Interested in so many things! books and cats and insects and birds and all sorts of critters and plants and forests and mountains.

I used to do a lot of handwork, knitting and sewing and weaving and embroidery and dyeing and guitar and cello, but rheumatoid disease is making me figure out how to have a smaller life.

Off-grid in the North Cascades, solar panels with a backup generator, wood heat

Really serious about not getting covid

I swear the marine layer has an ever-so-purple tint to it, LOL. Or I've been staring at too many purple photos here.

@Catlynn @ai6yr it’s not quite dark enough here yet for any distinct aurora but the sky is definitely a more pinkish blue than usual. Periwinkle.

@Catlynn @ai6yr thank you! Usually it’s pouring rain! I’m hopeful tonight :)

Seeing secondhand reports of aurora being visible in South Florida (Miami). Anyone out there able to confirm?

@ai6yr I have never seen it this high for my area!

Bear is still high :/ He didn’t sleep at all last night, or today. He has to be in contact with me at all times, if I stand up he’s twining around my ankles, if I sit down he’s either on my lap or sitting on my feet. But he wouldn’t come to bed last night. And he can’t stop making biscuits, his little hands and wrists are going to be sore. I hope it wears off soon. Fern keeps hissing at him because he smells wrong and acts wrong, she probably thinks he’s a doppelgänger.

@joycebell thank you! Me too.

In the US, we may be about to lose all of our reporting on hospitalizations. An HHS bulletin from November noted that hospital's COVID reporting was extended “from the end of the current PHE (Public Health Emergency) through April 30, 2024.”

I hope we continue to see hospitalization data, but we may not. The US has seen 265,966 COVID hospitalizations in the first four months of this “post-pandemic” “COVID is over” year.
