The sellers of the townhouse my wife and I are buying did a background check on us (just doing their due diligence, of course).
I have a fairly common name, and while the background check did not find anything on me… OH MY did they find lots of other people with my name who've been behaving badly in the State of New Jersey.
@reesecommabill when I was in the Army there was another Dave Clark in my unit. Sergeant Clark (him) had a massively overdue Blockbuster video. Corporal Clark wasn't going to pay that
Over on Threads someone is insisting they know more about tasting coffee than I do
Their experience is watching a Folger's commercial and reading Wikipedia.
My experience is tasting about 400,000 different coffee samples from thousands of farms at various roast curves.
I've lost track of how many severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings I've experienced tonight. I guess I'm in the middle of another severe thunderstorm warning right now...
There's something about legacies. They don't necessarily disappear. Some last a long time.
Today I pitched to my VP that I wanted to go to SparkTogether. They'd comped it for me last year, but it was a small fee as it was a web-only event. This year it is in person. A larger cost and we're a nimble start up.
My VP asked me who was running it.
Me: SparkToro.
Him: huh
Me: It's from @randfish who you [I was about to bring up Mox, etc]
Him, interrupting: You're going.
New Orleans-style food (i.e.: Cajun and Creole) is so rich and delicious. The levels of flavors, textures, and spices make every bite a culinary adventure. Shrimp etouffee is a stew that is smothered in a roux-based sauce that is silky and goes so well with rice. #larryskitchen
J got fancy MERV 13 filters for our apartment's HVAC and I'm starting to feel less like death warmed over for the first time in two months.
Maybe instead of being able to accomplish one medium-sized task today, I can do two medium tasks. Or maybe a medium task and also emptying the dishwasher!
People who empty the dishwasher regularly are magicians, I swear.
Optimizers around 5e #DnD say that a +1 is about a ~5% increase in success, but that assumes that the range of results is 1-20.
As we know the range of results in the game actually stretches from about 1-40 and the range of difficulties is 5 to 35. Neither of those would be a range of 1 to 20.
So all the arguments about optimization are about a ~2-3% gain.
