Incredibly proud of my dearest friend baritone Bastiaan Everink. After 25 years, he decided to end his opera career to fully focus on his work as a trauma therapist for veterans with PTSD. Before becoming an opera singer he was an elite soldier, serving in Iraq during the first Gulf War. This photo was taken after the premiere of Rob Zuidam’s opera Hercules, based on Bastiaan’s life as a marine.

Update: Problem solved! It reads: Es freut mich, daß Sie bis heute schon so große Erfolge erringen konnten. So wünsche ich Ihnen auch für Ferneres recht große weitere Erfolge. Nachdem die jüdische Musik doch bald ganz eingedämmt ist, wird für unsere deutschen Künstler wieder eine bessere Zeit kommen.

The first cow parsley I saw this week. In Dutch it is known as Flute herb, as supposedly you can make a flute out of the stem. Never tried it…. #WildFlowerHour
