I suspect the total amount of money the catholic church has spent on settlements and cover-ups for child sexual abuse could have housed, fed, and clothed the entire world. Priorities, right?

The last estimate I saw (a couple of years ago) was over two billion dollars globally. While a good portion of that has been paid through insurance policies and asset liquidation, at the very, very, very root of all RCC wealth lies members’ donations (included as one of the Church precepts as a LAW).
