doubtingtammy,

That’s honestly sad she would think that, even after he was vouched for.

doubtingtammy, (edited )

That’s why I was specific in calling them “Biden Democrats”. I’m not including all Democrats here, nor am I including all Biden voters. "[Name] [party members] " is a shorthand way of talking about either the wing of a party, or a voters whose views align with [name]. This genocide is decades in the making, and Biden’s wing of the party has been complicit the whole time.

If you vote for Biden, that doesn’t make you a “Biden Democrat”. Many people currently protesting the war and taking part in actions will end up voting for Biden this November. I won’t Shame them for doing what they think is best.

However, this is Biden’s legacy. This is what it means to be a “Biden Democrat”. Go ahead and vote for him, but for the love of Blåhaj, don’t embrace the fascist policies that he’s been pushing for decades.

You do realize under the Biden Administration this is the first time the US has ever even abstained from a vote on the security council against Israel?

That’s because in the past, when the US finally thought Israel went too far, they would directly pressure Israel to stop. Carter did it. Regan did it. Biden could have done it, but he didn’t - either deliberately or through incompetence, it doesn’t matter. He continued sending arms to Israel and vetoing enforceable security council resolutions without using ANY of the enormous leverage the US gov has over Israel.

Do you not see the absurdity of rushing arms to a country committing genocide and claiming you oppose the genocide because you abstained from a resolution with no real enforcement possibility? It’s a sick fucking joke

The first part of your post would make sense if Biden just entered politics a few years ago. But hes been in politics for half a century.

Biden has been near or at the helm of US power for about 30 years. He is the face of the ‘bipartisan consensus’ that got us into this neoliberal hell of forever wars and dictator judges.

I mean, you put the blame overturning Roe entirely on the supreme Court. Do you know how long Biden was on the judiciary committee? He should’ve resigned in disgrace for how he treated Anita Hill. In hindsight, seeing how Thomas’s confirmation was handled should’ve made it clear that Roe’s days were numbered.

Please, for the love of God, VOTE! (pawb.social)

I don’t like Biden either, but anyone with half a brain knows there are two choices in the 2020 election. If we had a sane voting system, voting third party might be worth it, but as it stands, no one but you knows your favorite candidate exists and unless you want to become their campaign manager that will still be true in...

I hate Biden as much as every other leftist here. But I’ll still vote for him because Trump is worse. If there’s a single bone in your body that cares about the lives of your trans friends you will too.

I’m a trans person. Here’s what I’m most concerned about: the dehumanization of Palestinians and immigrants. Biden has gone along 100% with the dehumanization of these groups

how the fuck am I supposed to trust Democrats that claim to support trans people when this is how they support Palestine? This is a president thats supporting an ongoing genocide while persuing draconian immigration policies. Am I supposed to just throw those groups under the bus for my own personal gain?

You’ve made it abundantly clear that if Biden was pushing anti-trans policies, you’d still support him. You’ve made it clear there is absolutely nothing Biden could do that would lose your support.

doubtingtammy,

Yeah you’re right, genocide is not a deal breaker. /S

doubtingtammy, (edited )

It’s like that old poem:

First they came for the immigrants.

So I also went after the immigrants, because the other side was going to go after them worse

Then they came for the Palestinians.

So I also went after the Palestinians because the other side would’ve gone after the Palestinians even worse…

doubtingtammy,

In September 2023, did you think you’d be supporting a candidate that you acknowledge is committing a genocide? Because my expectations for liberals in 2023 were already very low. But this is some Nazi Germany shit that we’re living in now.

doubtingtammy, (edited )

I just want to add: this isn’t only a leftists thing. This is a Michigan thing. It’s Muslims and Arabs who are watching their brethren slaughtered.

doubtingtammy,

Lol go for it

doubtingtammy,

In fact, the actions of the Biden administration to Palestinians in the US is contrary to your claims of the administration supporting genocide:

This is an honestly insulting thing to say. We have eyes. We know where the missiles are made. We know that a convoy of trucks can deliver more aid than air drops and a dock built out of rubble and corpses. The Biden administration supports genocide in palestine. Full stop. No amount of gaslighting can change that fact.

doubtingtammy,

As a trans person, same. I will personally be much, much safer if Dems win in November

doubtingtammy,

“We’re not in Afghanistan or Gaza,” he says.

I hate this mentality so much. We’re not in Afghanistan or Gaza, but we’re all still human. Their deaths are equally tragic.

It’s even the same weapons a lot of the time! The cops are all kitted out in surplus from the Afghanistan war, and receive “counterterrorism” training from the soldiers currently slaughtering children in Gaza.

Here’s an article from 10 years ago about the Ferguson/Palestine connection. ebony.com/the-fergusonpalestine-connection-403/

doubtingtammy,

I’m not making a legal argument against searches, I’m making a moral argument for international solidarity.

The lawyer’s statement isn’t that objectionable in a vacuum. But it’s representative of how Americans view the world. We see something terrible in our own society, and we say, “How can this happen here? This isn’t [a country we completely fucked over]!” Then the rest of the discussion is how to solve the problem here, instead of addressing the root cause.

If Afghanistan or Gaza have something similar to the fourth amendment, then maybe I can see your take.

Think of the context the bill of rights was written in. Most of those amendments were a reaction to the fear of an occupying force. Obviously these anti-occupation policies don’t apply to a people under occupation.

Here’s the thing: does a citizen in a crime ridden neighborhood in America have something similar to the fourth amendment? Legally they do. In reality, many don’t. After you have the police bust into your home for no reason without a warrant, you have a different take on the constitution.

Thanks to SCOTUS, the fourth amendment is functionally non-existent for a large number of americans, and the police operate as an occupying force. They use the same weapons as international occupying armies. They train each other. They fund each other. They’re all part of the military industrial complex. It’s all the same struggle

doubtingtammy,

Google priorities: Ad revenue >>>>>> “don’t be evil”

18+ I always hear stories of trans fems who stopped drinking post hrt and for me it's the exact opposite.

I feel like since starting hrt I feel more hopeless, and I look and realize that I’ll never look like a girl, there’s nothing I can do. My life is essentially over. While yes I look better than I did pre hrt I still look bad and I hate myself and the person I am.

doubtingtammy, (edited )

Are you getting treatment for depression? Or alcoholism? There’s medicine for both of those that can help (although it can take trial and error). Also therapy.

HRT can’t help everything. I was definitely expecting too much when I started, and after a year I felt in a similar position to you. . Fortunately, I started therapy and antidepressants, and they’ve slowly helped. They’ve helped me better appreciate the changes from hrt too.

Think of it like this: testosterone is like a dog biting you. HRT is when the dog finally lets go. But you still have that wound that needs to heal. For some people, it just needs a little time to heal. Others need bandages, stitches, antibiotics, etc.

I definitely needed antidepressants and therapy on top of HRT. I’m still not quite where I’d like to be, but holy shit it’s been much easier with the professional help.

And just one more thing to emphasize: there are prescription drugs that help with alcoholism. Benzos are used to manage withdrawals, if that’s needed (although some people aren’t comfortable taking benzos). Naltrexone lessens cravings, and isn’t something like a benzo that can get you hooked

doubtingtammy,

The average American mind really can’t conceive of a situation where additional militarization wouldn’t solve the problem. Every single conflict. Everywhere there’s instability. They can only think of one solution: send the drones/missiles/troops

doubtingtammy,

The reason fentanyl is so prevalent is because it’s easy to smuggle. The reason it’s so deadly is it’s hard to accurately dose. Legalization immediately solves both of those problems.

doubtingtammy,

I don’t care about the other flags, I just specifically don’t want the pride flag to be flown. I don’t want my flag to be associated with a genocidal empire

doubtingtammy, (edited )

My Thinkpad touchscreens were useless until I switched to wayland.

The only drawback is I have to manually edit the qgis desktop file to start qgis with x11 instead of Wayland. I had to do the same to a couple other random experimental apps, too.

doubtingtammy,

NOT single-handedly! The IDF couldn’t do shit with the evangelicals and trad caths of America propping their apartheid government up. It’s important to remember that western, mostly-christian countries created the environment for this genocide. AND the same people have spent decades equating the state of Israel with all Jews.

In other words, antisemitism is as European as Zionism.
