It would be just like them to try and jump on the train. They will try and do it in some way that allows them to absorb content without letting any Reddit content leak out. However they will likely do it in a buggy, half-assed way that doesn’t really work right before it gets abandoned and left to rot.

Leather dries out over time when left to sit and becomes brittle. It must be treated with some thing like a leather oil rub or “saddle butter”. Fake leather is similar.

When you wear them regularly from new before they dry out, the sweat and oil from your skin goes a long ways towards keeping the leather pliable.

Artificial fabrics obviously don’t have this problem, unless exposed to sunlight.

reddit permabanned me for mass reporting very obvious spam bots, as i was “abusing the report feature”, then ignored the appeal (which i’m sure went straight in the trash anyway). 9 year old 500k karma account, and a huge content generator for their money farm, down the drain.

i was already done with the site but mostly stuck around for some of the community content I still cared about. it was obvious they PREFER spam bots over real users, as long as they generate traffic and ad revenue. money over all, they’ve always transparently been that way. and the third party app ban was just the icing on the cake. They give no craps about any kind of censorship unless it censors the voices that might get between them and IPO money.

fuck 'em, fuck spez and his blue-eyed golden boy affluenza-afflicted pedo ass. they can have their spambots in their nice little walled garden. i’m having a lot more fun over here anyway.

edit: and in case a LW mod considers this “uncivil”, my last statement is factual, not an attack. it is an open secret that spez first modded, and then explicitly allowed the continued existence of /r/jailbait for many years (quick google); he is also so self-centered via his golden-boy affluenza complex that he thinks he will be a slave owner in the coming apocalypse.

My personal experience so far is that the Lemmy community is significantly more responsive in getting rid of spam bots. I’ve definitely seen a few but they disappear in less than a day, and lately the amount of spam has been extremely minimal, almost nonexistent on my instance’s all page. Compare to Reddit, where spam bots might get banned from a few subs immediately but would often take weeks to get sitebanned, if ever.

Most serious Lemmy instances require user approval to join via the short application, which means they have no bots at all. And the big key is that lemmy admins are quite active and talk amongst themselves; if an instance with open no-approval signups gets abused by bots, other admins will talk to that instance about it, and most of the time it seems to get fixed pretty quick. And if they don’t… well, you defed them until they do. It’s pretty pog.

This has always been the fear I hold… Politics has always been full of ugly loud-mouths like Trump, MTG, and Boebert. They’re dangerous but manageable because they’re generally kinda stupid and can’t keep their mouth shut- you can hear them coming from ten miles away and most reasonable people just work around them.

No, the most dangerous ones are always going to be the quiet ones, the ones that can sit and smile without saying a word, completely uncontroversial, while their hands are at work unravelling the knots of civil liberties under the table where you can’t see them until it’s too late. That’s one of the reasons I never did want to see Trump leave office during his 4 years- not because I liked him (far from it), but because I feared seeing Mike Pence, the quiet, uncontroversial Christian, take a seat in the oval office much more than Trump’s bumbling egotism.
And Johnson, being a completely uncontroversial nobody that was unknown to the media until now, is the exact kind of “sit-and-smile” quiet that is very, very dangerous.

I suppose he was controversial, but to the rest of us outside Indiana we never got any of that from the news supercycle. More focusing on his time as actual VP when he became more relevant to national politics, it was very easy for him to stay in the shadows of the Tornado de la Trump.

Low population, heavily concentrated in one city, with little heavy industrial activity, coupled with very unforgiving terrain (steep volcanic grades) and even more unforgiving weather (severe frost heaves/thermal fluctuation, huge snow load).

there’s just no economic reason to build difficult railways when your entire country is like 300mi across and never moves enough stuff in bulk to need it. including people.

the corsair power supplies are built by seasonic- at least the higher spec ones.

if you had a 500w or lower unit though you might have gotten some of their older import junk.

don’t need to touch anything except the psu. the rest of your rig will keep up fine. that phanteks has official support for up to 340mm long cards without the hard drive cages (you will likely need to remove those), and the EVGA FTW3 3090’s were 300mm cards on the dot.

absolutely the fucking do not try to run a hungry 3090 off a 550W CX supply. the infamous 30-series transients will trip that poor thing constantly. buy a 750w or ideally a 850-1000w fully modular unit from SeaSonic, Corsair, or EVGA.

yeah the 30 series power management was not great. i doubt that was ever the PSU’s fault- if anything seasonic’s more sensitive OCP would have exacerbated the problem lol

yeah the PSU market has sure changed. 1000W used to be insane, now it’s just normal for high end builds lol.

if you’re running a 3080ti you’re definitely good on hardware at least for another 3-4 years. I managed to stretch my old 970 almost 6 years, I can’t imagine current top-end hardware will age any worse than that.

I’ve not heard anyone describing reptiles as having “love” or “kinship” like a mammal pet ala cat/dog does. They’re not really pack or social creatures. However They do form familiar bonds with their owners/handlers that they’ll be most comfortable with, as they can tell the difference between people (largely through body scent). When they are comfortable they’ll be more energetic, mobile, and explore with curiosity.

yes, the 12V6x2 lengthens the power pins for more connection surface area, while also shortening the sense pins to prevent any operation at all if the plug is not fully seated. The updated standard seems to be doing better so far.
