empireOfLove2, to world in Exclusive: Putin wants Ukraine ceasefire on current frontlines
@empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

this may be a signal that Russia is reaching the limit of its ability to sustain the war and he’s trying to grab a hold of what little land he tenuously holds right now. Putin wants to wrap it up before they start to lose ground again.

empireOfLove2, (edited ) to technology in Sodium-ion batteries in the USA. Beating China at their own game!
@empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I’m very interested in experimenting with na-ion this summer. Their specific power/energy densities are still low compared to li-ion but their cells are already available for cheaper than li-ion despite having not reached economies of scale yet. They also seem to be reporting (unverified in data sheets) longer cycle lifespans and larger operational temperature ranges. Could make for a very nice self managing solar powered pi project soon.

If costs drop fast, the lower density won’t even matter- it could be the kick in the ass for utility scale battery storage to take off.

Go ahead, pressure the lesser evil to be even less evil, but you still have to vote for said lesser evil, or you’re gonna be stuck with the massively bigger evil and no human rights.

No need for an Intel CPU. It is basically platform agnostic like any other.

About its only “requirement” is that your system is new enough to support Resizable BAR on thr PCIe bus, which your zen3 machine absolutely is.

empireOfLove2, (edited ) to oregon in Oregon Primary Election Results - May 21st, 2024
@empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

PERSONAL GRIPE SECTION

As a resident of District 28, I absolutely fucking despise the Linthicums.

In 2016, Dennis Linthicum fradulently rigged the Republican primary election by conspiring with the current incumbents to deprive the district’s republicans a say in their choice of candidate. Mr Linthicum filed for the primary minutes before the deadline closed, then the incumbents suspended their campaigns the next day, effectively locking out the entire position.
Article 1
Article 2
Article 3
As a deep red district, winning the Republican primary is an automatic win, and the Linthicums knew it. He is an illegitimately elected senator who has no business being anywhere near any form of government.

And to think he has the absolute BALLS to be running on a platform of “Vote Integrity” for Secretary of State, the one office in control of elections in the state of Oregon, sitting in a Senator’s seat he obtained through out-and-out textbook election manipulation/fraud, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME SUING THE STATE TO END VOTE BY MAIL BECAUSE THAT IS SUPPOSEDLY FRADULENT??? Mr. Linthicum is downright DANGEROUSLY INSANE and really should be barred from running for ANY office whatsoever.
The absolute insanity of these YallQeada nazis is mind-boggling. There is not a single neuron firing anywhere in those empty heads.

It fucking sucks I have to deal with my native shithole being represented by another 4 years of an utter embarassment being ignored by all of Salem though. I literally changed my affiliated party to R just to vote against both of these idiot lunatics. Mr. Henslee is an actual level-head who has done good as a county commissioner and would have been a great senator… but being reasonable isn’t allowed anymore.

The absolute best bang for your buck new GPU’s for decode/encode are Intel ARC GPU’s. They use Intel’s Quick Sync Video system which is some of the best supported encode/decode libraries out there, and they’re cheap.

An ARC A380 is easily had for $110, runs entirely off 75w PCIe slot power requiring no additional PSU wires, and supports H264/H265/AV1 encode. It’s a no brainer.

As long as it physically fits the slot, it should not have an issue with the lower PCIe bandwidth. The lower end GPU’s really need very little even for video encode.
