Inflation is not prices, it’s a rate of increase of prices. Even if Inflation is at 0%, prices won’t decrease, 0% mean prices stability. To see prices diminish, Inflation would need to be negative, in that case it’s depression.

Still not enough content. I already feel the slow down in activities. I’m in a weird spot rn. I go back to reddit because there’s more interesting stuff to see, but the official apps is so bad, that I come back here. Also People here seems more intelligent on avg.

I like lemmy because there is no ads and no gold and premium stupid stuff like NFTs and 50$ awards. I liked the awards ideas ,but damn paying up to 100$ for digital emojis that everyone will forget in a day?

The big downside is the lack of embedded videos. Of course videos takes a lot of server power compared to text. But I hope we find a way to implement this in the future.

I think we should have a public board that shows the instance hardware spec and the finance. So we can set donations goals to upgrade servers or keep them afloat.

IMHO , it’s permanent storage . I remember in 2005 up to 2010, we all wanted the fastest CPU , more GHz , more cores ,etc. the industry gives us that . Then during the last decade , we all wanted a more powerful GPU, more core ,more memory ,more Mhz. We also craved faster internet connection ,now we have optical fiber with 3.5Gb/sec in home for 120$/month .(impossible to think in 2014)

Nowadays , I have the impression that permanent storage is lagging behind . With the new medias being in 8K, video games storing average 100Gb and what not, we regularly move around dozens of Gb, even as casual users .

Savez vous ce qui est agréable , calme et sécuritaire pour construire une maison ? Pas une banlieue, mais une ville sans voiture . Les nord américains vont trouver toute les raisons du monde pour conserver leur voiture . Qu’est-ce qui coûte 10 fois moins à construire et entretenir ? Pistes cyclable et infrastructures pour piétons . Qu’est-ce qui est rapide et économique en voyages pour faire l’épicerie ? Une épicerie de quartier . Qu’est-ce qui est sécuritaire et rapide pour les enfant qui se rendent à l’école tout en développent un sens de l’indépendance ? Une école de quartier à 15 minutes de marche . Qu’est-ce qui coûte rien à entretenir ? Un vélo. Qu’est-ce qui risque le moins de te tuer quand t’es soûl ? Un vélo . Qu’est-ce qui pollue le moins ? yep

Nos villes et vie et identitées ont été construite autour et pour la voiture . Et ça c’est un choix politique et c’est dû à des décennies de propagande et de lobbying .

C’est dur de faire changer le monde d’idée parce que pour beaucoup ,leur char c’est leur identité. C’est même un rite de passage à l’âge adulte . Et c’est bien normal , parce que si tu n’a pas de voiture , tu est un citoyen de seconde zone , littéralement . C’est plus dure de participer dans la société professionnellement , électoralement, socialement , ou juste pour magasiner . C’est agiste, ableist et un test de pauvreté.

once you have a a phone , why pay 300$ for a tablet ? I was thinking to buy a tablet because I spend an outrageous amount of time reading stuff on the internet . I looked at low-end tablet and the screen quality was terrible . I look at a S7 FE tablet ,700$, way better , but should I spend 700$ for 3 inch bigger screen ? Tablet on the toilet? I don’t think so. Tablet in my shower shelves , no. Tablet in my bed,maybe , but just while sitting … What about listening to podcasts … My phone do it and fit in my pocket , my bicycle , my car and my jogging fanny bag. So the tablet would be used only while I’m the couch or laying in my bed… but at this point I have a laptop . I have a 42 inch tv connected to my pc tower ,and a laptop that I barely use. Since I’m sitting all day long at my job. I prefer to lay down on my sofa at night ,not sit again behind a monitor on an office chair .
