I love The Roots and Black Thought is one of the greatest rappers to ever walk Earth, so this record he did with El Michels Affair shoulda been a no-brainer. It came out just 10 days after my birthday last year and I somehow heard NOTHING about it until a couple days ago.

Such a weird thing: with Design undergoing an existential crisis, I’ve been thinking a lot about how the label of “designer” is important to me. I pride myself on being pretty dynamic, and that has given my career longevity. Do I need to let go of that label to stay relevant?

So, THIS shreds. Band is called '92. They're from Long Beach. Their self-titled EP comes out February 23. It's hardcore, kinda - their one guitarist is wearing a Helmet shirt in their photo on Bandcamp. I hear the Helmet, and there's some RATM and other great stuff in there. The RIFFAGE. @jake4480 I have such a soft spot for Orange 9mm in my heart. It always seemed like they had something special. 25 Ta Life wasn't my thing but I definitely remember them being around.

@jake4480 I like the older stuff a bit better, so “White Reaper Does It Again” and “The World’s Best American Band” would be my recommendation.
