@MuseumShuffle Alternate version: “Why is this credit card bill so high??" says the person who went to Chicago and also bought both an iPad Pro and whole-ass house in May.
@MuseumShuffle My favorite (as in least favorite) recurrent Siri error lately is if I am in the car with CarPlay active I simply can't look up destinations via voice. I try to add a stop to a trip, use the voice prompt to say where I want to go and Siri shrugs. Stop the car and type it in (which you can actually do via the CarPlay screen 😅) and it works fine.
Now that I'm almost done with supporting landscape mode with @PleaseDontRain I'm realizing that I might be running out of excuses for not having an iPad version. 😳
@MuseumShuffle@PleaseDontRain As my Deep Dish talk demonstrates, once you’ve got an iPad version you might as well go ahead and do Vision Pro as well. 😉
@imyke@BenRiceM There comes a time in every Relay podcast's life wherein I can't put off subscribing to the membership version anymore…. and I think that time has come for Cortex.
@mikaelacaron@MuseumShuffle Honestly if I didn't have a traditional day job (and some more disposable income/savings) I'd probably do the same for at least a year or two.
Dumb question, but if I bought one of those "MagSafe stickers" on Amazon, that are traditionally used to give an Android phone MagSafe-like-stickiness, could I instead use it in reverse, and stick it to a non-MagSafe accessory so it would stick to my iPhone?
For instance, say I want to stick it to a banana so the banana magnets to my phone
@MuseumShuffle Unless I am reading something really calls out for the vertical orientation (i.e. reading American comics) then mine is almost always in laptop mode.
@MuseumShuffle I'm a Marvel Snap player too, but ironically on just about every device except the iPad. I got a notification on my Mac about 10 seconds ago from it 😅
@MuseumShuffle I've been blowing mine about as soon as I get them lately because they keep featuring characters that I like. (It doesn't help that I've been a regular Marvel comics reader for over 20 years.)
I would be amazing if I could “Mac Mirror” from an iPad Pro just like I can from Vision Pro, but it would run from my MacBook sitting closed in my backpack
It would be the perfect portable computer on planes, coffee shops, etc where I’m more than happy to give up the big screen
@BenRiceM@charliemchapman The funny thing is that this is more or less mirroring via SideCar, with the only real difference is that it would be initiated from the iPad instead of the Mac.
And technically VNC/remote desktop apps can already do a so-so version of this. I frequently remote into my always on desktop from my iPad if I need to do something Mac-specific.
@charliemchapman@BenRiceM So when I am mobile and I need to do day job work (aka Xcode) or record a podcast, I use a 15" Air. (Awesome laptop BTW.) But otherwise I generally use my iPad Pro (12.9” now, 13" as soon as UPS delivers it 😅) for just about everything else, including editing podcasts, reading books and comics, web browsing, etc.
At home I have a similar dynamic: my Mac Studio is the Xcode, recording and PC gaming machine while the iPad retains all of its use cases.
