Do you like ? Do you like ? Sverto 1.0 is here! https://github.com/jimjam-slam/sverto/releases/tag/v1.0.0

Easily include Svelte-powered in your Quarto docs and have them seamlessly react to your Observable JavaScript!

This new release is much easier to use, and I’ll be showing it off at !

Once upon a time, you either accrued in Australia through HELP because you didn't earn enough to repay it, or you paid your debt down because you were earning more.

But in 2020, a new group of people appeared: the ones being asked to repay their HELP debt, even as indexation pushes them further up river.

Our @360info_global analysis of taxpayer data found that 1 in 3 HELP loans "went backward" last year despite mandatory repayments: https://www.crikey.com.au/2024/05/10/inflation-pushes-student-help-debts-up-despite-repayments/

The government's new pre-Budget policy will reduce this to about 1 in 10, but as long as we have lower repayment rates, this class of of people is here to stay.

Thanks very much to the folks at Guardian Aus for the kind words about isithotrightnow.com in its The Crunch newsletter today!

If you missed the upgrade, now's a good time to check in: it's Bloody Hot across Australia's south-east today — including, for the first time this year, in Melbourne. The upgrade has been a labour of love for Steefan Contractor, Mat Lipson and I!

A distribution plot of Melbourne's historical temperatures in late February, shaded from blue on the left to red on the right. Today's current average temperature of 28.7°C falls within the Bloody Hot region.

Hey, congratulations on that new package! Or, maybe well done on keeping that old package maintained! Either way, have you thought about letting your users try it out in the browser straight away? It's really easy with WebR and !

people good with VS Code / : is there a way to change the font and/or font size for .qmd files in visual editor mode in VS Code? For now I've just been zooming in/out, but that changes the whole VS Code UI

@andrew If you need a quick, temporary adjustment, you can also Cmd+scroll wheel to change the editor zoom without changing the UI zoom! (It works for the code editor, not sure about visual editors!)
