I started a simple project called checkrc that validates the /etc/rc.conf file on . I'm still a beginner in C programming, but I'm giving it a shot with something usful:

https://github.com/scovl/checkrc

The project is still a work in progress, right at the beginning, so don't expect too much yet. But I'll be working on it every day. :blobfoxcofecute: :blobfoxcomputerowonotice: One day I'll be great!

@mpts Yes I know. I'm just building a validator of the settings that the user establishes in their own rc.conf. Having to use shellscript for this is exhausting. I mean, use shellscript to validate

@anderseknert I do this at least once a year (review which projects make sense to have forked in my Github).

Hey everyone, I'm studying #C and planning to contribute to some open-source projects soon. I have a question: in , do you usually use , , or more frequently? (I'm a beginner, but I got the impression that cmake is the most comprehensive). Is there one that's more universal and can be used across all projects, or does it depend on the project? And for , which one helps more with configuration?

I speak a few languages (and none of them well). Maybe one day, I don't know how soon, I'll speak well (verbally). I was extremely disappointed because I was invited by the Foundation for an informal interview, and... well, my English let me down again... it's just so sad. :revblobfoxdead:

In my next article, I'll focus on the development environment, and from time to time, I'll offer tips on tools within the atmosphere. Of course, there will be plenty of tips about Emacs as well.

When u think u get it, u don't get shit. Good thing I never thought I made it! I'm an eternal jr lookin' to learn somethin' new. Yesterday, I was struggling to run a simple Makefile and nothin' worked. What was the problem?

The platform LOL... on only make or make work. Especially bmake (I'm practicing C to contribute to some projects that always caught my eye). I'm crap!!!

Recently dabbled in , which got me looking at Lisp in a new light. Unlike , which is awesome for sure, has been out of academia and in the market for quite a while... found it pretty cool.

I'll never set foot in a zoo again! I'm adamantly against the existence of these places which, in my opinion, make no sense at all!!

Zoos are perverse, and nothing justifies their existence! If the argument is to care for animals born and raised in captivity, then take care of these animals without exploiting them as products, attractions, or spectacles... and I'm not vegan! I just have common sense!

@tshirtman The central issue, in my view, isn't whether capitalism can be "done right" with its internal contradictions, I question whether it can really be reformed to the extent of serving everyone equally, without sacrificing the planet or the rights and dignities of the less fortunate.

The challenge is to imagine and work towards a system that, by its very nature, seeks to balance human needs with the limitations of our environment, distributing power and resources more equitably. ++

lobocode,
@lobocode@hachyderm.io avatar

@tshirtman The discussion doesn't end in finding the perfect system, but in constantly seeking significant improvements in the structures that govern our lives.

lobocode,
@lobocode@hachyderm.io avatar

@tshirtman I believe there's a fundamental flaw in the premise that adjustments within capitalism can be sufficient to address the deep inequalities it inherently generates.

History shows us that, although capitalism has been effective at producing wealth, it consistently fails to distribute it fairly. The problem doesn't just lie in a "poorly implemented capitalism" but in the logic of the system itself. ++

lobocode,
@lobocode@hachyderm.io avatar

@tshirtman firstly, capitalism, by its very nature, seeks profit above all else. This leads to rampant accumulation of wealth in the hands of a small elite, while the majority of the world's population works in often precarious conditions to support this accumulation.

It's no coincidence that, even in the wealthiest countries, there are people struggling to survive, while a small percentage holds the majority of the wealth. ++

lobocode,
@lobocode@hachyderm.io avatar

@tshirtman furthermore, throughout history, whenever alternative movements or systems seeking a fairer distribution of resources have emerged, they were actively fought against, not just ideologically but also through political and economic interventions and manipulations.

++

lobocode,
@lobocode@hachyderm.io avatar

@tshirtman This not only underscores capitalism's resistance to any form of change that threatens its dominance but also the difficulty of assessing the potential of alternative systems that never had the chance to fully develop due to such interventions.
++

lobocode,
@lobocode@hachyderm.io avatar

@tshirtman

Regarding the question of improving life for the "bottom half" within the capitalist framework, we need to consider whether the system, which is based on the exploitation of labor and the extraction of natural resources at an unsustainable rate, can truly be reformed in a way that not only improves living conditions for everyone but also protects the planet for future generations.
++

lobocode,
@lobocode@hachyderm.io avatar

@tshirtman The current climate crisis is a testament to the limits of capitalist growth and the urgent need to rethink our relationship with natural resources.

You mention veganism as a way to redistribute the benefits of our productivity more equitably and preserve the environment. ++

lobocode,
@lobocode@hachyderm.io avatar

@tshirtman This illustrates a critical point: significant changes require more than marginal adjustments; they require a fundamental reevaluation of our priorities and economic systems.

Veganism, for example, directly challenges the capitalist logic of maximizing profit without considering animal welfare or environmental sustainability. ++

lobocode,
@lobocode@hachyderm.io avatar

@tshirtman Therefore, while I share your desire to improve conditions for the vast majority of the population, I believe the solution lies not in reforming capitalism but in transcending to a system that places human needs and sustainability at the center of its economic logic.

We need a bolder vision that rethinks not just how we distribute wealth, but how we generate it, and what the purpose of our economy is.
