g-unzip?

gun-zip

I used this command way before I used gzip so I didn’t put it together.

I’m pretty sure Amelia was a cutie before… you know what? She was cute after too.

I have a Windows VM on my server. If I need MS Office or any Windows-only program I just use Remmina to RDP in and get stuff done.

Windows has pretty good touch support over RDP so I can even do this from my phone or tablet if I need a full desktop on the go (using a VPN).

Yes! I’ve used that before.

I spun up a trial version of Windows Server and tried to get it working. It seemed to want a Domain environment and I didn’t want to go down that road. There probably is a way to do it without setting up a Domain but I didn’t feel like messing with it at the time.

Maybe something I should look into again.

I got a carbonization machine. I’ve been drinking way more water these days. I always thought I liked soda because of the sugar. Actually I liked the fizziness. It gets fizzier than anything else I’ve ever drank.

US Army officer resigns over 'unqualified support' for Israel (taskandpurpose.com)

He wrote that the justifications for Israel’s war in Gaza became “difficult to defend” and that “whatever the justification you’re either advancing a policy that enables the mass starvation of children, or you’re not.” The post received an outpouring of support with hundreds of likes and comments in just a few...

He probably has an additional MSO because of some event in career. Certain schooling and assignments may incur an additional service obligation. The Army wants to avoid spending a lot of money on training its officers only to have them immediately drop their REFRAD paperwork.

The ability for communities across different instances behave like one. We don’t need ten different communities doing the exact same thing.

We don’t need to be as big as Facebook but three or four times more users would probably be ideal.

@mikyopii@programming.dev avatar

I would have to be a mutual agreement between communities. Moderation in such a setup would be tricky (can mods take actions on users or posts that technically don’t reside in their community?)

Bailing out. You are on your own. Good luck!

I hope the author is okay.

Here we go again. How many chapters do you think we get from him this time?

Everyone here will probably say people are moving to Linux, but I imagine the biggest beneficiaries of Windows’ long-term decline in market share are ChromeOS and MacOS. I would probably recommend a MacBook to my mother if she asked for my opinion on a new laptop.

There is also the argument that Windows’ market dominance was an aberration and unsustainable, and now we are seeing a reversion to the mean. While Windows is in an enshittification phase right now I wouldn’t be surprised if Microsoft eases off in a few years if their market share continues to decline.

This is good news, hopefully more competition in the OS space.

I bet manpower costs are significant as well. How many people are needed to run this thing? You probably need engineers with an esoteric set of skills to put it back together and manage it which would not be cheap.

Edit: I looked it up, it is running SUSE Enterprise Linux, so maybe management isn’t as specialized as I expected.

Is there something wrong with doas? I thought doas was smaller with less of an attack surface.

Thanks for the insight. I think I understand what he is trying to do but is a little too low-level for me to really grasp the technicalities.

The FAMAS is probably the best one. But the French are getting the HK416 if I remember right.
