At the end of World War 2, we gave a free pass to almost any Nazi who had any kind of scientific or tactical expertise because we knew the soviets were doing the same and needed the tactical advantage and knowledge to start ahead in the pending Cold War. Many of those same Nazi scientists went on to hold positions of power in our military, intelligence, and corporations.
That’s the one, yes. I’d be curious to learn what you thought of it, if you watch it. It reminded me of a mixture between The Shimmer and the dystopian books from that Swedish guy’s artistic stories. His last name starts with “S”.
These are some of the same fuckers who took on bad investments in 2007, knowing the investments were shit, and crashed the worldwide economy in 2008. Millions lost their homes and life savings over night. Then the govt. bailed them out, the poor banks and their little oops, with our money and they laughed all the way into the “too big to fail” book of cock-knobbery.
They don’t care about how we perceive them and a vast number of consumers, sadly, cannot be bothered to go without the creature comforts they enjoy to send a message so nothing will change. Same thing will happen with real estate when that bottom finishes falling out. Too bad consumers gotta pay for the huber of the wealthy.
Recently went on a sci-fi bender starting with both new Dune movies, then Rememory, High Life, Archive, and Tenet. Finished Tenet last night. Still don’t know what it was about!
Bill and Melinda WERE philanthropic. Then Bill did a cheat and eventually got divorced.
She was always his better half. Bill has always been a piece of shit business man and only started his philanthropy due to Melinda. That’s why there’s not so much of that same philanthropy from ol’ Microsoft, himself, as of late.
Honestly, until the working class realizes the cops work for the capitalists and are there to protect their property, not civilians, we will see more “don’t have anything to fear” crowd stepping in to assist against this kind of thing.
However, most are still hung up on wedge issues like abortion to unite against the powers of their own oppression. So long as cops are seen as protectors to some, we will have bootlickers tonguing some pork brown-eye.
I think the point Idiocracy was trying to convey had less to do with the genetics of the stupid people breeding, and more so the downward spiral of intelligence due to policy societal and governmental changes. Dumb people, make dumb policy choices, including with regard to education. To me, it stands to reason that the downward slope of intelligence is percitpitated on how effective governmental policy is and how well education is distributed.
