after a lot of trial and error and reverse engineering of a hdmi adapter from the seller i got the alternative display panel for pocket reform up and running today, finally. this was hard because docs were severely limited and @timonsku and me were extremely puzzled why nothing was working. in the end the escape clock frequency was too high, setting it to 24MHz worked.
@timonsku this display doesn't seem to have built in backlight control via dcs. so i did a totally-not-a-hack to PWM the led enable at 100khz via a recent version of the pwm-gpio.c driver from stefan wahren
Turns out that at https://fkcaps.com/custom/ I can buy custom color and custom label low-profile keycaps for the kailh choc brown switches of my MNT Reform open hardware laptop. I might've gone a bit overboard but I really like how colorful my keyboard is now and how easy it is to make the Reform my very own custom computer. 💻 ❤️
Microsoft suddenly going to town again with ARM/qualcomm surely will be good for us in terms of more arm64 software compat and Linux mainlining efforts for Qualcomm hw.
also, people who are tired of all these AI anti-features can be sure that the MNT Reform family will be free of that stuff.
@thomholwerda on iphone safari a bunch of fonts seem to be missing which are then replaced with times new roman, esp the main Surface Pro type over the first video 🙃
