‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 82: Israel accused of harvesting organs from dead Gazans
Despite a UNSC resolution calling for humanitarian aid in Gaza amid Israeli attacks, Gazans remain starving. Meanwhile, Palestinian bodies returned by Israel were “mutilated” and missing “vital organs” according to Gaza officials.
Here is the text of a report we received from a user at the mas.to server:
"In my opinion, this is anti semetic as it reports a truly horrific thing without adequate sourcing
what makes it antisemetic is that it clearly brings to mind common antisemetic tropes like the 'blood libel' (Jews drink the blood of Christian Children'"
We are sharing this ridiculous report as an example of the weaponization of the reporting systems in Mastodon.
My grandparents’ story of surviving the Holocaust taught me what genocide is, and it is how I know to condemn what Israel is doing to Gaza right now. How dare Israel exploit my family’s suffering to try to justify its genocide in Gaza.
@TruthSandwich “But the assault on Gaza can also be understood in other terms: as a textbook case of genocide unfolding in front of our eyes. I say this as a scholar of genocide, who has spent many years writing about Israeli mass violence against Palestinians.”
The hope of ending ‘Israel’s fever dream’: An interview with Craig Mokhiber
In a wide-ranging interview, Craig Mokhiber reflects on his time as Director of the New York Office of the UN’s High Commissioner of Human Rights after he stepped down in protest over the UN’s failure to prevent a “textbook case of genocide” in Gaza.
Anti-Palestinian racism is inherent to Zionism and you’re not allowed to talk about it
We won’t have truthful discussions about Zionism in this country until people are honest about the fact that anti-Palestinian racism permeates our political culture.
@cultdev It’s not a throw away term. It was intentional coined by Yeshayahu Leibowitz. The blanket comparison of Israelis to Nazis that some people engage in is not accurate or constructive.
@crashglasshouses This is an opinion piece, written by an Israeli, referring to a term coined by another Israeli. It is worth reading and understanding the history of it and its use here.
@cultdev Simplistic comparisons of Israel to Nazi Germany are inaccurate. They exist in two very different times and contexts. The comparison does not illuminate the current situation. This is why scholars and activists have done so much work to explain the colonial settler nature of the Israeli state. The comparison with apartheid South Africa is closer. In any case, you won’t find us simply calling Israelis Nazis.
CNN’s Jake Tapper failed to adhere to professional and ethical journalism standards in a story claiming to offer proof of sexual violence by Palestinian fighters on October 7.
How Israel undermined the prisoner exchange by widening the definition of ‘security prisoners’
Israel undermined the prisoner exchange with Hamas by widening the definition of “security prisoners” to include those held for little more than social media posts.
@IsoscelesKramer@ned The reason is apartheid. If Palestinians are to be held in Israeli jails and subject to Israeli law, they should be able to vote in Israeli elections, no?
Following October 7, “The Zone of Interest,” about a family of Nazis living right against the walls of Auschwitz, is the most relevant film in the world right now.
@DavidBruchmann It is an historical drama based on a novel by Martin Amis. No one claims it is a documentary. However, many Nazis did live very close to the concentration camps they worked in, including with family members. It would have been impossible not to know, hear, see, smell what was happening very close by.
