Today I finished my second day in the role of Director of Software Engineering at Traveler’s Insurance. My primary focus areas are onboarding and mentoring early-in-career engineers and supporting the engineering development experience. I’m SO excited at the potential for making an impact in so many young people’s lives, and for the chance to advocate on behalf of the engineering organization!!
Today's little bit of design housekeeping. Going through my new design and making sure I haven't missed any concentric rounded corners which are now not properly inset. I generally have the UI handle this automatically, but inevitably I was lazy at some point in the past.
The general rule is that the inner radius has to be set to the outer radius minus whatever the padding between is. So if you have a 30pt outer radius and a padding of 16pt, then your inner radius would be 14pt to look right.
Today is my 15th Appleversary! In 2008-ish my mom took the left photo of me. I was exiting the first Apple building I ever worked in. It was later torn down and its site (and its recycled materials!) were used for Apple Park. Funny how things come full circle, because Apple Park is where I’m able to leap with joy (with amazing coworkers!) today, as demonstrated in the photo on the right! What a truly remarkable 15 years. Here’s to 15 more!
They made a purple version of my office chair. I really wish I didn’t know this information. I’m obviously not going to buy another $1700 chair because that’s insane. But I want it. #xp
