Doing a rewatch of and aside from re-iterating how good it is. I always see people reference Luthens later speech, but I think this one really is more “core” to me.

One of my clients has told me that if I ever figure out how to bottle whatever happens when someone has an IT problem and I jump on with them and the second I look, it’s working fine, that I’ll be rich. 😂

Holy shit, my daughter just crashed my Steam Deck so hard it rebooted in German.

Our little* cat has a new routine.
If he jumps in to my lap while I’m in my office chair he complains until I change my seating position to cross legged so he can curl up in a ball.

*well he’s 11lbs now so “little” is more an affectation at this point

I need some new science fiction to read, who has some suggestions? I don't like military sci-fi. For reference, my favorite series is the Expanse, I also enjoyed Scalzi's Collapsing Empire, I love Robert Charles Wilson's books. I mostly enjoy space operas and unique stories about technology, for example I really liked the recent book Mountain in the Sea about AI and intelligent octopus. Suggestions from the awesome Bookstodon community? @bookstodon

@Jennifer @bhalpin @bookstodon seconding the Vorkosigan series. The tone in the books swings a LOT with some very dark stuff in it and then lighthearted comedy but I loved the series. Agree with starting with “The Warriors Apprentice”

And the fact is that there was nowhere near as much reference material as there is today so the original poster is 100% correct.

And completely aside from that:

Back in the early 90s some MasterClass costumers were putting together a Ming the Merciless recreation from the “Flash Gordon movie” meticulously researched it painstakingly beaded his big villain collar.

then, at some point, they got access to the original piece and they looked at the collar and someone had simply sprayed it with glue and stuck beading on it. (2/3)

In the 1970s? You MIGHT have access to a fair amount of information if if you lived in a city.
