@RiotLinguistics that 100% sounds like Sadie. I'm so sorry. You absolutely don't deserve this.
She and her friends are disgusting pos and should be turning into fishfood at the bottom of the River.

so....because I have a little bit of a following on instagram, random brands reach out to ask me to do "sponsored content" probs cause they don't look at my actual page

these are like...health and beauty type stuff vpn's etc etc like what you see sponsored on youtube

HOWEVER

an NGO...just asked me to collab as an influencer with them??!!!!

Not hire for a commission which I think is fairly normal...

but to do like a sponsored influencer fucking thing

and its making me now reallllyyyyy wonder about all those infographic accounts on there that push out the most non profit lib shit possible

nobonzo,
@nobonzo@kolektiva.social avatar

tbc I'm not mad at them or wanting to shame them, they do some pretty interesting human rights stuff (its lib but whatever)

its just bizarre to me that NGO's are now trying to get like into the weird world of influencer sponsored content brand ambassador type stuff

nobonzo,
@nobonzo@kolektiva.social avatar

@riotmuffin hahaha

okay now this is actually an interesting opportunity that I think would be beneficial to both of our brands and grow our target audiences

honestly tho I have lots of questions too? I may ask them for more info just out of curiosity
and I may look through my email to see if I've actually gotten these before

@Mungencakes they know me too well

@dantescanline these are so cool

I recently was watching this dude and kinda blown away by the scale he works at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuG8rIZR9Ho

nobonzo,
@nobonzo@kolektiva.social avatar

@dantescanline right!!? I've watched other videos of his (including where he prints this with a steam roller) and he just really seems to go for it with little pre sketching/planning. super talented.

nobonzo,
@nobonzo@kolektiva.social avatar

@dantescanline oh this is really helpful too!! I'm gonna try the hairdryer trick.

I made a list for someone on starting screenprinting and so I'm posting it here as well

I do this with youth quite often and its a nice easy way to start

This is pretty much how I started to scale up once me and friends moved past the "steal screens from house windows and use bucket paint" phase

Easiest way to get started is embroidery hoop screenprinting

Gives you good fundamentals to scale up

Watch first

www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1QH6mcMtZA

need

  1. Hoops (get a few sizes, starting with 4" and maybe going up to 10")
  2. Screen mesh a 60-110 mesh (thrivescreenprinting.com/screen-printing-mesh-types/)
  3. modge podge
  4. little bit of paint to color it
    5)squeegee (something flexible, remember your squeegee has to comfortably fit in your screen. don't get a huge one)
  5. jacquard screenprinting ink (best beginner ink and their super opaque white if VERY nice for printing on dark fabrics)
  6. brushes, synthetic for applying modge podge

Tips

For your very first image do a test. Make a star/heart/square shape or something VERY simple. You're just playing around and learning.

Don't use panty hose for real. Its not even really helpful to test as it will behave completely differently from screen mesh when you scale up.

Don't have your image come to the edge of your screen. Give yourself at least a two inch gap between the edge of the gap and your printable image. This gives you space.

Don't use clear modge podge, color your modge podge with a little bit of cheap paint. It will save you a lot of stress.

When you finish your first coat of modge podge hold it up to the light to see the spaces where you missed.

Start by doing test prints on newspaper, junk mail etc till you start getting prints you like. Feel comfortable making lots of tests. Screenprinting is a lot of muscle memory for angle/pressure/ amount of ink on screen.

Keep ink on your screen. Screenprinting ink will dry and its safer to keep enough on your screen to keep it wet than to let it dry on your screen.

Heat set anything on fabric. This is VERY important. You can do this with a home iron it just takes a little bit of time. Follow the heating instructions on your ink.

If you have a local art store, they can get a lot of this stuff in stock for you (other than the embroidery hoops, thats a craft store purchase). Otherwise, dickblick is an option.
There are these really cute mini squeegees folks use for nail art and they work great for small screens. Don't get the beginner speedball squeegee. Its honestly trash.

I'm really stoked how they came out. Like really lovely.

Gonna choose a bunch more images to get made and put packs together.

But in the meanwhile, if you would like a postcard with an anarchy quote on the back, email an address to streetleaves@protonmail.com Just put PostCard in the subject line and if you have an image preference. I'll mail out next mon :)

@nobonzo@kolektiva.social avatar

Also think I'm gonna try and figure out which facilities are still allowing postcards to be sent in as that feels like just a good list to have handy

Google has become increasingly difficult to use but it's nice to know you can still search for DIY press and find tutorials on how to turn a goodwill panini grill into one.

nobonzo,
@nobonzo@kolektiva.social avatar

@pystykorva the ai thing has been horrible for finding reference photos. Like a lot of just utter nightmare stuff will pop up in search results now when you're just looking for something innocuous like "sitting on the floor"
The before: 2023 stuff has been slightly helpful
