My weird gripe as I try it out: the tab close buttons are on the "wrong" side of the tabs, and are very sensitive. I've closed a lot of tabs by accident trying to switch to them.

Okay, at @webology's urging, I'm trying to use @Vivaldi for a bit.

How do I get the tab navigation behaviour from Chrome back? Cmd-Opt-<arrow> navigates me in what feels like a random sequence, rather than left to right in my tab bar.

What the actual unholy fuck is Dropbox's team system? I joined a team and somehow my personal account is locked to the team, and my old personal account is now under the team email address instead.

The outcome of all of this is, apparently, that:

  • my dropbox contents are now associated with a new account โ€œGโ€, with new OTP settings
  • my old account โ€œOโ€ is an orphaned business account
  • I cannot unlink โ€œO" from โ€œGโ€ because I can't log into โ€œO" any more, so it's just in the UI
  • I've created a third account, โ€œH" that is on the team
  • โ€œGโ€ and โ€œO" share OTP configuration
  • โ€œG" inherited the 2FA settings from โ€œO" somehow.

This is the most insane process I've ever seen.

@webology Yeah, I just tried that -- it worked, but searching for โ€œ1password in vivaldiโ€ (which I tried originally) dumped me in some very sketchy wikis

@webology So far, the Chrome extension worked; I just didn't realize I could grab those freely.

Now to figure out if my massive set of profiles that I use Chrome for -- one per Google domain I have an account with -- is going to fit into this world.

(My use of profiles is why I cannot make the jump to Firefox; their UX for those is untenable on macOS, and nobody seems to get it)

I'll expand on this a bit, I guess; I wouldn't call the UI polished yet, but 1Password's implementation hits basically every other button; it's cross-ecosystem, it's easy to use, and so far it's been pretty clear which one I'm using.

I find the worst thing about passcodes so far is that the sites that use them are inconsistent about what they mean; I've had sites demand them in lieu of TOTP codes, and others that require TOTP codes after a passcode.

The usage is uneven, but the UX is fine.

@bitprophet Honestly, the secret is -- if you can get there -- to find a way to find joy and rest in the homeowner bullshit. It's constant work, but there's a satisfaction to working with your hands when the rest of the time you have to work with... well, your hands, too, but in a very different mode :D
