This battery health program shows how bad it is to charge batteries over 80%

penguingeek,
@penguingeek@mastodon.social avatar

@darth

This is a very controversial issue.

There are three best things to do.

  1. Not to use fast charging.

  2. Don't drop the battery below 20%.

  3. You don't have to charge 100%. But if you are charging fully, you should remove the phone from the charger after it is full.

My own usage scenario is minimum 30-35 maximum 85-90 charge range. I have a usage between 2 and 3 days.

@penguingeek@mastodon.social avatar

@lukather @darth Some phones stop charging and can be taken directly from the socket (this is a separate issue). But what I am saying is that you take your phone off the charger.

If you charge it before going to sleep, your battery will die more quickly than usual.

penguingeek,
@penguingeek@mastodon.social avatar

@darth "so basically I use up to 60% of battery capacity daily"👈 👍 me too

"I have never seen a smartphone that can do 2 days."

Probably because I don't use it very intensively. I mostly use Whatsapp and Youtube (night and morning). Dark Mode has a lot of effect.

penguingeek,
@penguingeek@mastodon.social avatar

@darth @lukather I hope your use case will be successful. That's why I wrote in my first message that this topic is complicated.

penguingeek,
@penguingeek@mastodon.social avatar

@darth @lukather

I wrote about the experiences I observed in the people around me.

But there are many interesting examples.

For example; My mother has a Xiaomi brand phone that she has been using for 7-8 years. It always charges 100 percent. Almost all social media applications are installed and actively used on the phone. It only charges once a day. Seriously, like I said, this is very complicated.

As usual, no matter what does, it cannot benefit some people.

If Ubuntu use an old kernel, they ask why they don't use a newer one. If Ubuntu uses a new kernel, they will ask why they are forcing it.

Now they may think of thousands of reasons and become defensive.

@freechelmi @popey

1.Maybe it is considered risky for Ubuntu Server (or for businesses
) to install a flatpak application without sudo. That's why flatpak doesn't come pre-installed (this is just a guess).

2.Why is Calamares or any other installer so important?

#AAPL's recent changes to #PWA (#ProgressiveWebApp) functionality in #iOS, specifically in the #EU, has sparked outrage among #webdev. The company's late acknowledgment of intentionally limiting PWA capabilities, presented as compliance with the EU's #DigitalMarketsAct, has been criticized as deceitful. This move, seen as an attempt to protect its #appStore #monopoly, undermines open #webStandards and harms #developers and users.

@schizanon Fear of losing money. I think it prevents it because it cannot get money through the web application.

The problem about Firefox forks is they are soft forks of Firefox.

Because they are soft forks, they're still following the upstream, and generally still not going far enough to overcome Firefox's shortcomings.

Someone needed to take the plug awhile ago. Now, I'm uncertain if there is still time.

It's not too late, no one should worry. The time when it will rise again is not far away.

@Linux_Is_Best

Let's be honest. If Edge didn't come default with Windows, how many people would use it? I'm sure there will be more people downloading Firefox. Anyway, the real issue here is the perception Google has created with its search engine. There is a huge group of people in the world who think the Internet is Google. This is even the case for my mother :)

penguingeek,
@penguingeek@mastodon.social avatar

@Linux_Is_Best

It happens that web developers create their websites for the chromium base and expect Firefox to adapt to it. Of course, Mozilla has its faults, but there is also a whole software community that is lazy to optimize their sites (applications) for compatibility with Firefox.

So much so that even some html5 based games give a warning in , saying that they will not run in this browser (firefox). But it works when I change the user agent. Isn't it very interesting?!!!!

penguingeek,
@penguingeek@mastodon.social avatar

@Linux_Is_Best You make it sound like there are huge differences between Chromium and Gecko. No one expects you to run GTA5 in the browser.

"YES, there is a significant difference. The fact that you do not understand this says you have no idea." You don't need to attack.

The reality here is a reality you create. This should not be forgotten. MOREOVER; I wish you (Apple) success in your commitment to webkit. Yes, the only bad thing is Gecko, it is responsible for everything. Apparently, this saying goes well in public! Best regards

    @darth You can only uninstall apps from your phone without closing your social media accounts. I connect 99% of the time through the computer, my phone is in a corner, wi-fi is off. I charge it every 3-4 days (I am talking about 55% of the battery).

    @darth If you connect to the internet via WIFI and not ethernet, you probably wouldn't install Debian. Looking at youtube videos or reddit posts, most of them are connected to the internet via ethernet. You should introduce your WIFI card to distributions like Arch, Debian, etc., and then make posts like that. I am calling out to the whole world.😂 😂

    @darth I'm glad to hear that. I hope I've made my point. The difficulty of installing WIFI drivers in some distros drives me crazy.😅

    America, we have 11 months to stop a dictator. Don't be fooled by the familiarity of the fool or by any soft-pedaling of the situation. Trump means us excessive harm.

    Nobody in the Democratic Party, including Joe Biden, is perfect. We don't need that and we won’t get it. We need people that will stop this march to autocracy, misogyny, racism, and the deletion of our rights.

    One chance, people.

    Voters must take Trump seriously and literally. The stakes are that high.
