I have the whole OS on that RAID. Should I just create the new MD and copy everything there? I guess that I need to copy data when the OS is shut down (so with another PC), correct?
Oh, so easy?! If the RAID rebuilds the disk, why should I install a bootloader? Isn’t it already in the rebuilt disk? By the way…hemmm…how do I install the bootloader? 😣
Hi all, I have a Proxmox server hidden away where it annoys nobody, and a small PC I’m the TV cabinet that I need to turn On/OFF every time I use it and when a movie needs to be transcoded, the fan spins like crazy....
Network Device Interface: basically it’s an audio/video (and intercom) transmission over IP with low latency. The sender could be an hardware encoder or a software that I could install on a Windows VM and use on that machine Jellyfin and Netflix
Kinda, the difference is that you don’t need to take the output of the graphics card (so no need to run X), but you can send the video directly from a software.
Because do this kind of thing is fun! 😁 And since I share the Netflix account with my siblings, I can only watch it on a PC (with Edge to have 4K 🙈). …but I’ll keep the Roku option in mind. Thanks
Since I’m sharing the Netflix account with my siblings, I can’t use a smart TV, a Roku or another player but just a browser, because the hardware players should all be using the same Internet connection.
So it’s been a a few years since I’ve bought hard drives for my little home server and wanted to get a bead on what’s the target on dollar to TB in the post Covid world. Thanks!
If you are planning on using a RAID1/5/6 (or SnapRAID), think about used drives. I’ve just bought 6 6TB drives for €8/TB (this). It all depends on what you need to store on those drives.
In my opinion it’s more useful than yours. Is it missing some description? Sure! Do I like posts like this one? No.
But instead of shouting your comment with anger, why not write something like “why not add some description? The way you posted it is pretty useless”. It may work for this time and for the others for the OP (and for the others that have read your comment).
Just thinking of ditching nextcloud and its just too much for my family use. All i needis carddav, caldav and file sync. Have a Debian VM running on Scale and was thinking of using Cloudron docker install. Is this the way others are installing on VMs?
I’ve tried installing it about a dozen times over the past year, but it always gives an “unable to get image” error. So I’m wondering if there’s an alternative that does everything paperless does…but lets me use it
Well, first of all, let me say that people lamenting over an open source project is very sad. The comment I’ve linked is from a Neo Launcher contributor and, as you can see, there’s been continuous work on the project.
Software RAID1: how to change disks?
I have installed Debian with software RAID1 (and installed Proxmox on it) on 2 256GB SSD and I now want to move to 2 500GB SSD, how do I proceed?...

Question about price per TB

Finally got my server to work properly. (Routing with custom local domain instead of ports) (programming.dev)
I spent all day today trying to get the routing to work correctly between Tailscale, Nginx and Adguard....

Alternatives to Nova Launcher?
I deleted nova launcher from my device after seeing this: lemmy.ca/post/19914345...

Since a few folks seem unaware of this, I’m posting anew for visibility.
