It certainly is a product and service.

I just don't think it should be such a cornerstone of so many things, I think it's destroying the indexability of what are otherwise technical or product support forums, and I think it's a privacy nightmare.

I don't use multiple identities on Discord except through a full blown virtual machine that has other alternate identities. That's a complete pain in the ass and it's meant I've had to leave projects and people on the table because it just wasn't worth the effort to "do it right".

But that also means we're on Nostr thanks to the Nostr bridge, and Nostr supports Channels that behave kinda like telegram groups UX-wise but are totally public. @gucciloafers @coin @graf My experience with the louder ones is that they would call for violence against The Right People on Twitter, and they would be so explicit about it that Twitter's offshore moderators banned them, and so they came to fedi where they can straight-up call for people's death and dismemberment and it's perfectly fine as long as the instances you talk to are okay with it

It's outsourced. It's been outsourced for over a decade. Maybe they'll offload it entirely to machine-learning at some point, but rn it's overworked, underpaid human reviewers with quotas to meet and a fleeting understanding of the English language.
