This begs the question.

Why hasn’t Apple embraced React Native and Electron as valid platform choices? Microsoft is the primary developer behind React Native on Windows and it’s used heavily to build their own software.

I appreciate everything Jen has done for the web and Safari. Apple has become the new Microsoft. The Microsoft that pushed so hard against the web then declared Internet Explorer complete.

You have written about swift concurrency. But it was years ago, and now it has problems. Totally understandable!

But high rankings in search engines. People trust you. They are getting confused. They are introducing crashes into their apps. You have to go and fix these posts. Concurrency is hard enough.

And posts about concurrency in 2024 without strict checking? This is not understandable.

If you asked how @SwiftStudio going. Well... it been better. Apple #Swift just recently decided to shutdown #SwiftPM API I use (to make things CLI cannot provide). I find it unexpected (to me, not to apple) move after many years. https://github.com/apple/swift-package-manager/issues/7440

I'm disappointed with a move in that direction and find that decision harmful for the third-party dev tooling ecosystem trying to adopt SwiftPM. IMHO.

Looking at modern swift makes me think maybe I should just learn rust. Swift’s value proposition for a long time was “almost as good as rust but way easier to read/write.” Is that still the case!?

It’ll be funny seeing the #iosdev community collapse and split in two when Apple introduces AI-assisted Xcode and AI frameworks to build iOS apps. In the same way, we still have a division between #SwiftUI and #UIKit. There is only one way, and it’s upward.

I once consulted on an iOS project. The previous dev was not an iOS dev. The codebase was objective-c and about 90% of the code was in the AppDelegate and the UI was all inside 1 storyboard file. AMA lol

@dimillian you’re using Xcode cloud for ice cubes, right? How do you handle updating the build number in the code base since Xcode cloud is incrementing this? Manually?
