I commute via :unicycle:, ๐Ÿ›ด, "halfbike" or :penny_farthing: because they are great fun! But I love all types of cycles.

I also like minimalist tech: non-smartphones, old school digital watches, Slackware, Gemini/Gopher.

I feel very strongly that if you use a "free service" and enjoy it you should donate to its up keep.

I hate commuting in. It is so awful cruising along in the warm sun eating an ice cream as I coast through Oslo looking at the sites.

I sometimes look at cars stuck in traffic as I ride past them, free as a bird and think about how they were tricked with adverts in strangely empty cities, showing the freedom they would get with their new box of metal.

They choose poorly, unicycle commutes are the true freedom. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Actually, yeah I am still pretty happy to be honest. I would take my raining and winter unicycle commutes over a car journey any day!

A typical car comercial. In all shots of the car driving, there is not another single car around anywhere at all. Even in the city it is completely sterile. Like you are driving around in a dream/simulation or โ€ฆ perhaps after a zombie apocalypse? ๐Ÿค”

How are these ads even legal. They are a total fucking lie. You are promised the freedom of driving around on empty roads at high speed but the reality will be traffic or frustration from the person who cut in front of you.

But I say it should be written on the side of the car itself.

All the SUVs can have "potential child killer" written on them. That might ruin some of their popularity for the school run.

55km (34 miles) with 804m (2638 ft) of elevation gain and over 4 hours of cycling time.

I should also add that I was horribly hung overโ€ฆ but somehow I made this work.

I still think this is a fun watch. Those LEDs are nothing like a classic 70s watch but on the flip side they are highly readable in all light unlike actual watches of the era. In addition the case styling is one of the more interesting of modern/retro watches and does have more of those old school vibes.

There is a lookout point near me called "Grefsenkollen". A few years back now when I started to unicycle regularly again I thought to myself, I suddenly wondered if I could unicycle up to the top.

I suspected not but eventually I got brave enough to try and I made it!

Then I started unicycling up there regularly.

Later I when I bought a "footbike" (non-electric kick scooter, a.k.a. a "kickbike") after some time I had this thought, "I wonder if I could kick my way up to the top of Grefsenkollen" but the entire idea seemed impossible. I imagined it would be so tiring that I would never manage it.

Later I bought a penny farthing. After I had ridden this around for a few weeks I got to thinking, "Could I cycle this up to Grefsenkollen?" but the gearing was so high I figuredโ€ฆ no chance!

But then latterโ€ฆ I did it.
