"Mama, why is he lying down?"
"Well he never really deserved to be standing, he was a rich, bad man who made his money moving people around the world where they were forced to be slaves."
(on the mobile web I get an annoyingly oversized and intrusive "back to top" icon upon scrolling down on pages of https://dabristol.org.uk, so sorry if you do too)
I enjoyed giving a talk, dare I even say it'd be fun to do another one? I don't know what else to talk about though. Do ideas for talks just come, like blog posts? Or should I ask followers for what they'd like to hear about?
For the first time since 1992 (when I was 12) I’m completely disinterested by the UK General Election.
Sunak and the Tories will lose, Labour in uninspiring, the Lib Dems weedy, Greens weak and SNP weakened, and Reform simply grim. And Brexit is the elephant none of them will touch.
As I’m still a UK citizen I will vote, but it’s with less determination than ever before.
@a11yMel@rachsmith woohoo, no work for me, I very rarely wear makeup! Saying that, in the US office world I may be considered unprofessional...
Also yes the 'alright?' could totally be confusing, I can see that! In Hamburg a common greeting is also 'na?' which I found totally confusing myself when I moved here. The correct response is a returned 'na?' 😆
I used to get excited by big tech announcements. But now it's all just so uninteresting. Is this because I'm old? Is it because there's just SO MANY keynotes and product launches now that it's too hard to keep up? Or... has it actually become boring and mundane for others too?
Also I feel shamed as a once-physics-teacher - I didn't know or remember that the sun changed polarity every 11 years. That's cool and weird and mind blowing.
@mihobu@andycarolan@hryggrbyr StickerApp was good, based in Sweden but ships everywhere :) only minor complaint is that with the narrow border, the cutout was ever so slightly off-centre.
