For the first time in years, I won’t be watching an Apple event live, as I’m attending an espresso brewing course in a few hours.

Hoping to avoid any spoilers and watch the event after the course. Hoping I’ll have enough self-control to stay off Mastodon until I’ve watched the event tonight 😄

@ezarowny I think it covers the basics of dialing in, testing differences, and steaming milk. Once I manage all that I might go for a latte art course too.

Fully expecting Apple to announce that the Apple Vision Pro is being rolled out in more countries later today. It would make sense to do that before WWDC, especially at an event where they’re rumored to announce an Apple Pencil that works with both the iPad and Apple Vision Pro.

I'm thinking that the introduction of the Apple Vision Pro in more countries is part of the reason Apple wants to gather tech writers outside the US in London after the ‘Let Loose’ Apple event.

My first attempt at making an espresso tonic did not go as planned 🌋

A glass of tonic next to an espresso shot. In the background is an espresso machine. The espresso shot is poured into the glass of tonic causing the mixture to produce foam and flow out of the glass. It looks like a small coffee explosion.

@madmaxbln I’ve only had it for 48 hours so it’s a little too early to draw conclusions but so far I enjoy it very much. It does all I need and more than that. Plus, I really like its aesthetics which matters a lot to me.

@passim Rancilio also seems like a great brand making beautiful machines! Strictly speaking mine isn’t a dual boiler. It’s a dual thermoblock. True espresso enthusiasts drown upon that but is great for my needs.

@ctietze Indeed! Several times in the process of choosing my first machine, I made deliberate choices to avoid smart features like that. Like, I knew I didn’t want a machine with a touch interface, which basically ruled out fully automatic machines and the most interesting Breville machines. Also, the La Marzocco Micra wasn’t a possibility because it has Bluetooth.

@ctietze Maybe. I'm not ready to tear open my brand new machine to mod it. Not really interested in smart features either, honestly. I feel like I have enough tech in my life. It's fine for me to keep espresso brewing fairly low-key, at least for now 😄

@jeff I see. I’m not yet sure what I’ll end up doing. It heats up pretty fast so I don’t need it to be on all the time. On the other hand, it’s a thermoblock system with standby, so it doesn’t use a lot of power.
