@Well_Worth_A_Read@horrorbooks@horror LOL To be fair, you've only read one, and I think it's more of a statement on the darker aspects of life, not necessarily that the stories are darker (altho some of them may be.)
I thought the first one WAS dark, w its implications re: the son's unfulfilled dreams & the fact that your future can hinge solely on a chance encounter to change the entire trajectory of a life.
I'm 4 in so far- one was pretty dark but it also reminded me of earlier work of his.
@Well_Worth_A_Read@horror I'm up to the Cujo sequel (Rattlesnakes) now. So far the best stories are ones I'd already read and it seems pretty mid, overall. Not bad by any means, but definitely not up there with my favorites of his.
Now that I'm almost done, I agree with you. I had also been hoping for something with a much darker tone.
Sitting down to make art & getting overwhelmed with the possibilities. I almost wish I was REALLY good at one specific type of art versus decent at a bunch of them. I know I could seriously level up if I genuinely dedicated myself to ONE particular style & medium, but I'd get so freaking BORED.
@sneezecat@horror I tried listening to one of theirs once but I couldn't get into it. Might have just been the mood I was in, I'll have to try one again at some point.
Eight-year-old Bela is the only child in a dysfunctional family full of secrets. Bela has also been keeping her own secret from Mommy and Daddo. She's been talking to an entity that hides in her closet. Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman brought back all of my childhood nightmares. I had to step away from this book more than once because it was scaring me. My review is posted at https://wellwortharead.blogspot.com/2024/05/incidents-around-house-by-josh-malerman.html#horror@horror@horrorbooks
@Well_Worth_A_Read@horror@horrorbooks I am not happy about it triggering night terrors in you but this is a good sign I may actually find it scary so I appreciate this info 😆
Best concert of my life and I've seen a lot of shows. I love both Social D and Bad Religion but came to see Mike Ness, especially, to support him after his tonsil cancer back in December.
Both bands killed it.
Mike's son, Julian, opened with his band, Lovecrimes.
@KentuckyConjurer Yay! Great pics and I'm so happy they're both still rocking AND that you got to see them. Sounds like it was a blast, thanks for sharing! 🤘🏼😁
I watched Abigail last night and I feel like this has been done before. The titles escape me at the moment but I have seen more than one movie where kidnappers end up finding out that it's not really a child they are holding for ransom. @horror
@Well_Worth_A_Read@horror The trailer reminds me A LOT of the movie LIVID. But Livid was really original and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I assume ABIGAIL will be fine, but I am likely not going to consider it as memorable.
(Btw, LIVID was on Shudder and if it still is and you have Shudder, I highly recommend it.)
