The pro-IDF propaganda over the last 4 months, to sanitize the Palestinian genocide, has been unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It’s kind of like the US’ ~2001 “weapons of mass destruction in Iraq” campaign but on a 10-1000x greater scale

Without knowing Israel’s political landscape, I’m inclined to agree, but I don’t think ‘a referendum on our policies’ is part of the right-wing playbook

Where is the ‘never again’ for Gaza? (www.aljazeera.com)

Last week, we passed the 100th-day mark of Israel’s latest episode of aggression against the people of Gaza. It was a depressing milestone to consider. A hundred days of Palestinians being mercilessly exterminated in all kinds of brutal ways: Israeli bombs ripping them apart, Israeli bullets piercing their skulls, and the...

It really is nuts that there is a poor occupied land half full of children that has lacked access to adequate potable water, sufficient food, hygiene, healthcare, etc for over half a year.

Then there is a rich country next to them committing colonial genocide with AI-powered weapons that we know are designed to accept about 20 civilian deaths for 1 rank and file member of Hamas death and 100 civilian deaths for a higher up.

And then you have one of the richest countries in the world giving $26 billion dollars in “aid” to top up Israel’s genocide fund.

It seems clear to me that the genocide in Palestine is largely being used as testing and funding grounds for US, Israel, and their other cronies (like google perhaps) to accelerate development of more advanced weaponry. They’re not just indifferent to the suffering of the Palestinian people/children. They’re (deliberately) profiting off that suffering.

Definitely not colonialism /s
I’m glad this shameful event is getting some social media exposure because I don’t think there’ll be too much about it in the mainstream press

The greatest barrier to reducing climate change is the ultra wealth financing denialism of climate change and the tight grip they have on what the average person thinks is real through immense lobbying, owning media outlets and controlling what they publish, and unlimited disinformation campaigns. Maybe it’s frowned upon to talk about those things at such a rich university, but if you’re not talking about those things are you really helping the situation or are you maintaining the delusional status quo of “we can get to it when we get to it”

Groups Condemn Alleged Instruction To Report School Students For Criticizing Israel (www.readthemaple.com)

Canadian organizations representing Jewish, Muslim and Palestinian communities, along with anti-racism activists, have joined forces to condemn the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) for allegedly instructing its employees to surveil and report Ontario school students for criticizing Israel....

2 broods of screaming cicadas will emerge this year for first time in 221 years (www.cbsnews.com)

Screaming, flying cicadas will soon make a reappearance – but it’s not going to be your average spring emergence. For the first time since the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, two broods of cicadas – XIX and XIII – will come out of the ground simultaneously after more than a decade of eating to transform into adults....

My friend, I think you might be struggling with anti-Black racism, and I’m really sorry you’ve had to experience that. People who find your face or appearance intimidating are probably racist. If/when you believe (internalize) that racism, that can make things worse.

This applies to everyone - when we feel safe around others, we are more at ease, and will give off vibes of safety to others - and it’s a positive feedback cycle.

If you have had a lot of interactions with racist people recently and you don’t have a support system that can help you cope with that, you might begin to believe that you intrinsically are the problem, and that would cause fear in anyone.

You seem like a really lovely and fun person. I think your focus should maybe be more about coping with racism and mental health than making your face look less intimidating. Maybe reach out to others for support - particularly those who have lived experience of dealing with anti-Black racism. If your boss is racist, getting another employer would be ideal too - but that’s easier said than done and might take a little while to fix. And ideally don’t date people who themselves and/or their families don’t accept you being Black.

I’m rooting for you!!! Hang in there and take care of yourself! You are not alone. I hope things start to get better for you soon! Virtual hug from Toronto <3 :)
