Quick note while I am thinking about it. I was unhappy with Publii for a while because I couldn't get it to sync with github.

That has been fixed and I redid the authorization in my Github account and it works beautifully.

I prefer Publii because it is local markdown files and I can copy them over to Obsidian.

I have converted my old WP site to markdown and will publish it through Publii as well.

    @bedirthan @LeviKornelsen I enjoy his worldbuilding as well. I have a difficult time with fantasy novels. It's me, I know, but I don't always enjoy the world even if I love the characters. Brust's world is interesting. I think it's partly the casual nature of magic and details about food.

    Speaking of the Marvel game, I need a huge favor from everyone.

    roxxon.com is available. If I bought it, I could have emails from @roxxon.com.

    But, that is not what I need to spend money on. So please tell me "DO NOT BUY ROXXON.COM"

    I thank you in advance for this public service.

    @sycarion@dice.camp avatar

    @SJohnRoss @kevin Hey, my spouse will not be happy with this. She specifically said... I mean, I specifically said, tel me to NOT buy roxxon.com.

    sycarion,
    @sycarion@dice.camp avatar

    @SJohnRoss @kevin YES!! I mean OH NOES!!

    I mean, um.. er..

    So how much should I bid?

    sycarion,
    @sycarion@dice.camp avatar

    @SJohnRoss @kevin I texted her and the response is kinda vague. It doesn't say that she didn't buy it, but it implies certain non-feline expenditures will not be approved for the current fiscal year.

    Something about Четвертый кот (fourth cat in English) is referenced multiple times. 🤔

    sycarion,
    @sycarion@dice.camp avatar

    @SJohnRoss @kevin I see the signs all around me. My wife and I both took Russian in college. She only uses it on special occasions as her language of choice is French (or occasionally Mandarin).

    I believe I have been chosen for this singular quest. I have my mug and flagon. (I have coffee in my fantasy cities, the mug is for wine.) I have my demotic Spanish and addled brain.

    I must press the BID button.

    I'm sure 20 bucks is enough. 😅

    OSR folks:

    Judge's Guild decided the right way to post about the death of Jennell Jaquays was by deadnaming her throughout in their Facebook post.

    This got them a bunch of yelling-at, during which they doubled down that this was somehow neutral practice, and then it vanished, possibly deleted, possibly reported into oblivion.

    So, like, if they weren't already on your asshole list, mark 'em on down.

    sycarion,
    @sycarion@dice.camp avatar

    @LeviKornelsen They were on the list, but duly noted that nothing has changed with them. :(

    I remember gopher growing up. Something about this Gemini protocol feels like fun. I read this and thought of alt-history libraries and a kind of 19th century internet.

    Also also:

    TTRPGs are the foundation of many hobbies, and "Fixing D&D" is one of those hobbies.

    And I'm not joking. This is literally a specific activity from which people derive joy; many of them know about other systems, and are doing something they LIKE.

    "Why do you like restoring old tractors? They're not even good at the job!"

    sycarion,
    @sycarion@dice.camp avatar

    @LeviKornelsen Forgive me for the tangent, but when I see "also also", I will always respond with a Monty Python quote.

    "Alsø alsø wik"

    sycarion,
    @sycarion@dice.camp avatar

    @LeviKornelsen In semi-seriousness, though, we had limited access to old D&D growing up, so we were not fixing D&D as much as creating a Frankenstein's Monster D&D. We had some OD&D Resources, both Red boxes, Moldvay Blue box, Mentzer Companion box, no Masters box, 1e PHB, DMG, MM, MM2, OA, and Spelljammer. We had Boot Hill and Top Secret SI mixed in with it, too.

    In the view of some, I believe we made D&D more broken. :)

    sycarion,
    @sycarion@dice.camp avatar

    @LeviKornelsen oh yeah, I agree. Not everyone is good at it. My friends and I weren't necessarily trying to be good at it. I bolted on Battletech into a campaign to kill the Tarrasque.

    Sorry, your post about fixing D&D just made me think about how much fun we had and the crazy talks about how much damage a PPC would do and how to handle characters from the boxes or the book.

    I stumbled upon a post series where someone is making anagrams of all the creatures in the 1e Monster Manual.

    I think I'll do the same thing with a different source book after my Cypher System project. Possible sources: OpenD6? Warhammer Fantasy? Pathfinder 1e?

    sycarion,
    @sycarion@dice.camp avatar

    @SJohnRoss Absolutely. Since I'm into a game that values combat mostly as a narrative device, the stats are not nearly as important as the description because the characters won't get XP from just fighting something.

    Who knows, maybe something fun will emerge from my stuck brain. At the very least, it will be a fun puzzle.

    For now, I may just call it the The Arcane Trauma Erg or The Near Ageratum Arc. (with associated hashtags, of course.)

    @SJohnRoss Sounds like fun to me, too. Been in a creative doldrums since my visit home two weeks ago. Looking for inspiration in all things not-as-crunchy and odd.

    What is an Elite Creel? Certainty not an electric eel. Of course, an Elite Creel implies other categories of Creel.

    Sigh

    I was really trying to stick with Weirding as a project, but there I was pulling parts out of Weirdglass, and I just glanced over at the stuff for compact creation (what does the party do and how do you relate to it?), and...

    Well, anyway, now there's only three pages left to revise before I have a new iteration of Query Six, with improved dice mechanics, better trait composition, a compact section, and an STL for custom dice if you wanna get real fancy.

    Scatterbrain productivity.

    sycarion,
    @sycarion@dice.camp avatar

    @LeviKornelsen I feel seen. 😀

    Glad that you have an improved Query Six!
