We had a memorial brunch to remember our late dad today. We invited the pastor who ministers to our staff to say a prayer. There was a flag-raising ceremony, not because July 4th was the Independence Day granted to us at the end of the American colonial period, but because my mom decided we would have a flag-raising ceremony each time we celebrate someone's birthday on the property. We had a simple brunch of ham and egg sandwiches, fried chicken, rice, and various fresh fruits.

Over the pandemic, I spent a great deal of time pushing back against anti-vax B.S. on social media. I was literally doing covid research at the time, so I know more than 98% of the public. But I ended up feeling like the kid with his finger in the dyke. "Who cares if you have an advanced degree in epidemiology, listen to this dude on YouTube." Jeebus Crispies.

I was a heavy user of Tumblr during the Ancient Times (ie, after LiveJournal taken over by Russians). I had a TERRIBLE first impression (a social network run exclusively by mean girls). But then I started posting some silly Supernatural fandom stuff with my Funko Pops and had a fun time and met some neat people.

But after Yahoo bought it out came the Dark Times. Their algorithm flagged several of my silly Funko Pop posts as pr0n (yes, seriously). I mostly abandoned the place.

If you want a happy, wholesome story of a nerdy Black teen finding love in high school, you have to set aside everything and watch Anything's Possible (directed by Billie Porter!!!) right now. Streaming on Amzn Prime. It reminded me a lot of Heartstopper, and the outfits are off-the-charts amazing (again, Billie Porter). Doesn't shy away from real issues, but is committed to resolving them in a healthy way. I felt so much happier after watching it last night.
