With great deliberation, I’ve decided that next Monday’s edition of shall have the theme of…

Animals

Animals are great, and there’s loads of them that people have written songs about. So fling your suggestions my way and let’s see if we can’t put together the best animals-related radio show the world has ever seen.

@DJDarren @labr You need to play Bright Eyes so people if a certain generation can wallow in their rabbit trauma.

@HailsandAles Did you get Pallbearer and Bring Me The Horizon?

tomroberts,
@tomroberts@metalhead.club avatar

@HailsandAles Fair call on Pallbearer.

I still love my messy, electro/industrial/pop/whatever BMTH.

Don't let that fact my diminish my appreciation for your weekly updates :)

@HailsandAles Yeah, a lot of it had. Maybe 20-30%.

I really liked their recent 'POST HUMAN' EP. They worked with Mick Gordon who did the Industrial soundtracks for the Doom reboots.

As an old-school NIN fan, that sort of abrasive electronica is good stuff.

Listening to 'Angel Of Retribution' by Judas Priest.

Strangely, the opening track Judas Rising was one of the first songs that really sold me on the band.

This was because it was the first track on the Judas Priest Essentials compilation which was my first Priest CD that I bought.

It's got all the quintessential Priest ingredients, with maybe the 'drama' turned up to 11.

@derthomas I love Loch Ness!

The world is a better place because seminal Heavy Metal band Judas Priest did a power ballad about the Loch Ness Monster.

If I’m gonna have a profile picture, I’m gonna draw it myself.

Playing 'Dirt' by Alice In Chains.

For some reason I'm always listening to Soundgarden, and never properly give AIC their due respect, but this albums is so good.

Listening to 'Worship Music' by Anthrax.

This was released in 2011 when I was really getting into Metal. I think it's a fantastic entry from a long lasting band. 'For All Kings' in 2016 was also pretty good.

Apparently there will be a new album in 2024, but I suppose we'll see.

At this point it’s undeniable that the greatest ‘Loch Ness Monster’-themed Heavy Metal song of all time belongs to Judas Priest.

I’m struggling to even think who’s in second place.

tomroberts,
@tomroberts@metalhead.club avatar

@derthomas I shall give it a shot, but I think Judas Priest might already have the win in the bag,

is for a song around the time I was born.

The closest Metal album is AC/DC with "Let There Be Rock", but frankly I don't recognise any songs off that album, so I'll pass.

The best choice, within a month of my birthday, is 'Sin After Sin'.

Here's title track "Sinner"

Since I saw @tomroberts' neat profile picture I have the strong urge to listen to King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

Luckily they have only a handful of albums to choose from, so today I'm gonna spin "Infest the Rats' Nest".

@derthomas That’s a good album. Also the only other one I’ve properly listened to other than PetroDragonic Apocalypse.

My for metalhead.club.

I'm a Heavy Metal fan from Canberra Australia.

My favourite genres are Doom, Stoner, and classic Heavy Metal. However I am interested in all the good stuff from across the all the sub-genres.

My all time favourite band is Judas Priest.

Other bands I quite like at the moment are King Buffalo, LOVEBITES, Unleash The Archers, Green Lung, and Bell Witch.

I have another account at : @troberts where I talk about general things, but mostly my cat.
