The has proven that @osi needs a full-time analyst to serve the community in Europe. Do you know someone who would flourish in that role? Here is the job posting!

Woke up to find has totally destroyed their app on all our phones, the only way to control their products, and left it with no play queue, no playlists, no widget controls, and when contacted for support pretends it's somehow better.

Johnson, of course, knew the voter suppression he initiated was performative, but it's still iconic to see him turned away from the polls today because he didn't have ID.

The @EU_Commission has launched a public consultation on the rules defining the European system (aka regulation 1025). The top-line for me is it completely ignores while making both engagement in standardisation and use of standards very hard for open source community members.

Unsurprisingly, the consultation's survey makes it extremely hard to tell them this! I think @osi will be attaching a letter to its input! The deadline is July 25.

Why not just use SPI? https://www.spi-inc.org/

OK. I would expect a c3 to be a difficult vehicle for the activities I'm aware of at Mastodon. Getting an IRS determination will be key. I would probably have opted for a different path ..

Wait, so Hashicorp broke Terraform to lure IBM, a Linux Foundation platinum member?

So that's me received the confirmation that my stuff is removed from Bigstack.

Which is good. It shows the Optout requests are being done.

Go to check again for librecasts old github account. Looks like I missed some.

While I did think it is important for Software Heritage to archive code, I wish it was done Opt-in.

It would be nice to be asked and for that code to be curated. This is not curation. This is automation.

@onepict Why, exactly? Surely the whole point of using a free/open source license is that others can do as they wish with your code without reference to you?

webmink,
@webmink@meshed.cloud avatar

@onepict Software Heritage specifically. I believe it is a fundamental resource for democracy and I very much support every last scrap of FOSS code being archived there and kept for ever.

webmink,
@webmink@meshed.cloud avatar

@onepict I am more sympathetic to Ai training issues but again, a FOSS license is intended to allow any and all reuse without further permission and a world in which the permission inherent in an open source license needs further permissions for certain fields of use is not one I want.

Note that Software Heritage has not created an LLM, despite the beliefs some hold to the contrary.

A small change to the most recent (Parliament-approved) version of the Cyber Resilience Act () is the addition of a requirement that software be "openly shared" in order for the European Union to consider it in relation to the CRA.
