The best strategy Dems can use to "save the planet" is to quit talking describing their plans as "saving the planet.” Doesn't matter what the policy is, you've immediately just turned off Republicans.

But most "green" laws are also better for the economy, or otherwise increase the quality of life for impacted residents. Talk about those things.

@skinnylatte I'm unfortunately required to use Music because it's the only app that syncs with my iPod Classic, which is still my main music listening device and easily the best music player there is.

@skinnylatte for example, I used my iPod Classic in Paris for the past week (was there April 13-20) and didn't even have to charge it. And the fact my phone only had 256Kbps internet didn't matter because 100% of my music was locally stored.

This is beside the fact that even in 2024 iPhones still cannot shuffle albums, a feature that shipped with iPods since at least 2004 (this is the primary way I listed to music).

@skinnylatte we also get to vote while living abroad, even if we’ve lived abroad for years. I don’t know about Singapore’s rules, but I’m pretty sure it’s rare to be able to vote in a country you don’t live in.

The world isn’t ready for my US cities tier list. Metro areas above 1 mil in the US that I’ve been to at least once. If it’s not on this list it is no higher than tier 4, but may be tier 5.

Tier 1: NYC.

Tier 2: D.C., Boston, Chicago, Philly.

Tier 3: LA, Seattle, Baltimore, Portland OR, Pittsburgh, New Orleans.

I’m willing to hear your arguments on why a city needs to be moved up or down. But here are factors: train access (local and regional), bike lanes, walkability, weather (too hot hurts worse than too cold, but both are bad), access to public bodies of water, are places open late?, and vibes.

@skyfaller i don’t factor cost of living into my rankings, but depending on your lifestyle NYC doesn’t have to be expensive.

In 2017 I made only $42k the whole year, Jan/Feb I lived in the UES, and March-Dec I lived in Bedstuy. I still managed to save $10k that year.

I’m not representative of everyone, but this is a personal, subjective, tier list and not objective.
