Reddit went through some issues for many on Monday, with the outage happening the same day as thousands of subreddits going dark to protest the site’s new API pricing terms....
The deconversion started when biblical school stopped being mandatory in middle school. The course was still being taught, like a course of geometry, but you were allowed to not go anymore without being punished for that.
The key remains to keep children away from religious teaching. There is a reason why religious organizations try to educate people as early as possible. Don't offer them this privilege so easily.
I say we settle here on Kbin, soon we will have way enough content for everyone. We report the bugs, adjust the interface and we prepare a sane moderation so we have a nice settlement to present to the inevitable waves of redditors who will join us in the coming months.
I see that there is someone already publishing a Kbin extension for firefox, more is probably coming.
Are we supposed to see an image? I have the google scripts blocked and I don't want to send a request to google just for the test. I hope Kbin doesn't plan to rely on google.
Does anyone else have multiple accounts while looking for new reddit alts? So far I've got accounts on Lemmy, kbin, and Squabbles and I've been lurking on Raddle, Sqwok, and Tildes from the outside....
I tried Raddle and the people there are crazy. I gave it a fair chance but even calling someone "he" is seen as an attack because I didn't instruct myself "whether or not the person wanted to be called he or she or they". This is the hill they are dying on.
I tried lemmy and the big problem is that people are attracted to the most populated subs, namely the subs hosted on lemmy.ml, which is administrated by the crazy chinese. It doesn't matter if you register yourself on beehaw, you will still talk on lemmy.ml, and when you are banned because you said "Taiwan number one" or because you insulted Putin, then you are out of the biggest channels. You can still talk on your own server, sure, but you will talk in a ghost town. The federation model has a limit. This is why we should populate Kbin and not jump on the lemmy.ml ship when the cloudflare component is eventually removed. Build here, stay here.
To be honest I'm not sure that it's a good thing that we federate with any of the old lemmy instances, like lemmy.ml or lemmygrad. Let Kbin grow steadily and we will probably be rejoined by lemmy/reddit users pushed away by their own new moderation. If you've been on lemmy you know what I'm talking about.

The intention is to pave the way for the AI creators, who will feed on reddit comment like crazy. They are the only ones able to pay the fees for the new API. Who else can?
Our content was coherent, easy to sort, curated. It was free value that we fed to the AI.
Imagine the writers guild of america giving their scripts well written, in a database, with scores, etc...
Writers also wanted artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT to be used only as a tool that can help with research or facilitate script ideas and not as a tool to replace them.
Can you imagine the value that we gave for free with reddit? We should be paid for what we do.
So overwrite your previous content, don't feed the AI for free, this is worth dollars.
