To be fair though, I've never heard of a modern phone battery swelling. That's something that will happen years after it's EOL, and at that point the company is no longer obligated to supply a replacement (as ideal as that would be).
An integrated battery allows the company to minimize the size and design of the phone. It's not 100% greed and planned obsolescence, though its virtually guaranteed those are components of the design decision.
I want replaceable batteries too. But I want them to be standard so I don't need 3 chargers for each company's phone. And I want them to be sleek like modern phones so they fit in my hand and pocket like I'm familiar with.
It's not super new, they've been doing that for a while. It's pretty difficult to get a direct source to the image even if you dig into your browser's developer tools.
EDIT: Thank you all for your answers, now I'm reassured this platform is in good hands and we will always have the freedom to switch. Let's make this place vibrant, diverse and decentralized, like the old web used to be....
Safari most of the time. Occasionally Edge when I need to test things. It's pretty wild that I can run a Microsoft browser on macOS. Hasn't been that way since the 90s. :D
That's true, and it's been a couple years since the fork, so I consider it to be a Microsoft product moreso than a Google product even though the underlying engine is the same.
I have this same keyboard on hand, it's not bad! It's an AT keyboard (so larger DIN connector vs PS/2) and somehow I got one new old stock (NOS) from Las Vegas last year.
It's great if you need a compact keyboard for retro PCs, especially AT boards, but the layout will mess with you if you use it too much. I found myself mixing up Ctrl and Fn on other boards if I used it too long.

I love Necroware's channel. I've learned a ton - not just about vintage PC hardware, but general troubleshooting, electronics, soldering, repairing boards and traces - it's really helped me a lot as I work on my own retro PCs.
I decided to do a bit of a dive into this platform, and while I think it is an interesting idea, I am yet to find a space on Lemmy where I am welcome. I am an artist. I have a Patreon that pays my bills and puts food on the table. Generally, I give the majority of my stuff away for free to the community, but that usually comes...
Come on over to the kbin instance. I see at least one magazine so far and no rules about Patreon links: https://kbin.social/m/art
Personally I would WELCOME you to post your Patreon. It's just a link, it's not an ad or spam. You put a lot of effort into your work and that's only fair. In fact as we push for a more decentralized web, I think it's critical content creators are able to receive funds independently of ads or platforms. Many of my favorite YouTube channels are only possible because of Patreon subscribers.
It'll take time but I'm glad you and I both are here. Google may suck but over time they and other indexers should hopefully pick up on the information being created here and we'll gain relevance in search. I want more people here, I want a shift in how the internet and forums work. And if we reach a critical mass one day, I hope the decentralized nature of the Fediverse will prevent the same downfall Reddit is experiencing. I want a more permanent place to hang out online.
WELCOME, baberim! I'm new here too and felt the same way. Reddit historically handled blunders fairly well, not perfectly, but better than this. It's so sad to see they couldn't pull in that same community-focused energy they have in the past. I wish we could have stayed there. But on the other hand - we have an opportunity to build a new future together, a new internet and decentralized social web. And that's exciting. :)
My understanding/tl;dr is that Kbin and Lemmy are both software platforms that connect to the Fediverse. They are written in different languages (PHP and Rust respectively) and are separate from each other, but they are similar and can interoperate and communicate with each other and other platforms like Mastodon too.
There can be multiple instances of these platforms, so there can be several Kbins, several Lemmys, etc. and they're all independent and can federate between each other which just means sharing/collating content between each other.
The benefit is everything is more decentralized, no one controls everything, and everything is spread out and more resilient to issues like what's happening on Reddit.

Nothing important here. I just want to see how many people are moving away from Reddit.
