Was flying from Austin TX to Lax Vegas with a stop in Salt Lake City Utah via a standby ticket. So the pros of the standby ticket was I was flying for almost nothing. The con is you can only get on the flight if there’s an available seat.
So I get to SLC no problem. But then the trip to LV had a canceled flight. So needless to say there was no standby flights available for several hours as they kept using those spaces for the canceled flight. Hours later I’m at the desk waiting for the update on the last flight of the night alongside a small family that was from SLC but had also been waiting several hours. We get the update. Not flying out till the following morning. Being that they’re from SLC and Vegas is about 6 hours away they’re all like screw it. Cancel the flights and just drive. At this point I’m like “great. Sleeping in an airport”.
So they start to leave then look to me and just ask if I want to take the ride with them. Hell yea. I’m in. Grab my bag and follow these people I’ve never even spoken to out. They tell me they’re just going to stop by home and switch cars. Cool no problem. We get to their place (it’s like midnight at this point and reality sets in for them) and they’re like hey it’s late. We’re sorry but are you ok with leaving in the morning?
So not only did I jump in total strangers car for a 6 hour ride across Utah into Nevada (whole lot of nothing between those points), but I also stopped by their house and slept on the couch.
While not even remotely a metal band…
I saw Underoath at a small local venue years ago that basically did this. Prior to the “open the pit part” they announced that the owner told them no encouraging moshing or it’d forfeit their payment. Being that the band told us that prior to the “open the pit” part they obviously knew what they were asking for and welcomed it. They were pulling the crowd up on stage to dive off and everything. The venue cut the mics and they kept going to finish the song. It was absolutely amazing.
Also highly adaptable. I’m never concerned with things changing. I just change with it. Also people. I adapt to whomever in with almost immediately and without even thinking about it. Downside of that is sometimes I’m not sure who I actually am. Am I being myself or just the people I’m around.
This sounds like my fiancé. She’s also riddled with anxiety and adhd which actually makes sense. She spends everyday and every moment bouncing around in her head analyzing every little thing and possibility that when something does actually happen she’s ready for it.
Yea I had the same experience. No idea it would just sorta not end like that. After seeing it my fiancé said “what’s wrong? You don’t seem that excited about the movie”. I was like “idk. It hasn’t finished yet!?”
It’s like Infinity War. Fantastic movie in its own rite despite ending on a cliff hanger. And I’m kinda glad they didn’t hint at it. With IW/Endgame you knew it was a two parter so you basically walked into IW knowing Thanos would win.
With AcrossTSV you knew there would be a BeyondTSV because it had already been announced but assumed it’d just be another story.
Whether you started with a 2600 and a joystick in your hand, an N64 with a blistered palm or building your first PC in your teens, what is that one video game you've played at some point that to this day sits at the top of your list.
Some users wonder if the dev will be charged for having it still up, others argue Reddit can't charge him without having signed a contract. Everyone is confused as to why the API change hasn't made it inoperable....
Fact is even if Reddit rolled back the changes it’d be the classic “let’s see how far we can push our user base then we’ll roll that back to acceptable levels while slowly pushing those limits through later updates” strategy
I had a feeling they'll put something like this, so I went in every now and then to see how infinity will react. I really loved the app, devs did an amazing job
That’s the real issue. I would have gladly paid Apollo $5-$10 a month considering how much I used the app and loved it but the fact that so much of it doesn’t go to the developer because Reddit wants to charge 27x more for 3rd party users is ridiculous.
Loved that feature on Apollo. Filter out politics, shit I was tired of seeing (for example is filtered out “Shaggy” back when he was meme’d to death), I’d filter out keywords of movies I didn’t want spoiled. It was honestly one of the best feature of Apollo.
I wouldn’t even call their early albums pop punk. Closer to post hardcore (not nearly hardcore but aimed to that audience at the time.) But yea; Vheissue was a sign of what was to come but AI was totally unexpected at the time from what Thrice was and their newer albums aren’t even close to what they were. But fwiw the new stuff is still really good!
Lemmy, what are your "missed flight" stories?
I just missed mine. Feeling pretty stupid right now. Hopefully your stories will cheer me up.

Think of the first music video that comes to mind. What is it?
I'll start: November Rain
What artist(s) had a radical change in musical style?
I'm talking about artists who completely changed genre or otherwise became unrecognisable. Share some that you know of!
OC Attempted to make a Zombie Dr Strange yesterday. Pretty happy with it so far.
