W6KME,

I hope they don't get consolidated-that's the entire point after all. One choice for everybody is what the corporate sites have been forcing on us for years. Let small communities develop organically. Who cares if there is some overlap? I belong to three ham radio clubs in Real Life and I value each for what it is. Combining them would kill all of what I like about them.

How can we smooth out the migration and help promote kbin/lemmy to subreddits and redditors?

I think the biggest thing we need to figure out is how to make it sound easier than people say it is. People get too hung up on the technicalities of how the fediverse works, and they never try it out and see that it isn't as confusing as it sounds. If we could write up a simple blurb to help promote kbin to subreddit moderators...

W6KME,

When I first considered leaving the bird site, I had all the same concerns many others did. But it meant more to me to have some principals, so I tried Mastodon and very quickly found that I was seeing FAR more content that interested me and virtually none that I didn't. I was a fool to wait so long. And this is what I'm telling people I know who are concerned about where Reddit is going. You'll get used to the new site, just like you got used to Reddit. Do what's right, rather than what's laziest.
