I didn't expect Buddy Daddies to have such a great ending. 😭🤧
I thought there would be a season 2 to look forward to, but it really seems like they kept it to 12 solid episodes with a satisfying conclusion. I didn't really get "hooked" until 3 or 4 episodes in, but I'm really glad I stuck with it. In the early episodes, it was hard for me to get past the fact that they were trying to make two seemingly remorseless contract killers sympathetic leads. Every "aww" was followed by a, "... oh, right, they kill people for money and they don't think twice about it." lol BUT the more they explore it, the more it all starts to come together and it works. The show kind of expects you to see something more in these guys that they don't even see in themselves, and it pays off. Def one of the best 2023 #anime, IMO, I slept on it for too long.
It ends with some moderately Christmasy episodes, so if X-Mas is your jam and you want a really solid short anime series to watch that is seasonally relevant and somehow manages to blend very sweet, wholesome comedy with stylized hyperviolence, then I would recommend Buddy Daddies. lol It's a weird dynamic, but it works.
