Anyone else find it difficult to start episodes of anime? The reason I'm always so behind is not even because of lack of time. It's just that I find it hard to start watching, and this has been a thing for a while now.
It's not that I no longer like anime, not even close, because once I do start watching an episode, I enjoy it as much as I did before (unless it's an anime I end up dropping because I dislike that specific one, but those are isolated cases). It's not the enjoyment that's gone, but rather the... energy? drive? to actually press play. I'm not sure how to describe it.
@rei I get like this with anime and other hobbies. It's not lack of drive, but I start 2nd guessing if it is what I want to do.
This stems from my ADHD (analysis paralysis specifically in this case), where I start questioning if this is the episode I want to watch or maybe another show... or maybe I should be doing another hobby instead. And it keeps repeating itself in my head.
Eventually I'll force myself to hit play on something, or I'll waste an hour or 2 and end up doing something completely unrelated.
@gnitro Could be the paradox of choice, yeah. I know I get that with games.
And it's very annoying, because it's not even the "Oh, but if I watch this, it's a commitment for the next half hour" thing, because I would just go and watch videos on Youtube which, added up, is also half an hour, or maybe more.
@rei Yeah choice definitely causes this issue for me. Sometimes I'll combat it by flipping a coin or rolling a die. And how they land is what I do. It sounds dumb, but it's helped a lot when I'm really struggling with it.
@gnitro I actually did use random.org, set from 1 up to however many anime I had with at least 1 episode to watch, for a while sometime last year. Maybe I should get back to doing that.
