One year ago, we converted a small piece of boring grass in front of our institute into a wildflower meadow. Now it's blooming for the second time, attracting many insects, and improving the biodiversity and the micro climate around our institute.

I've long thought any lawn area over 1/4 acre should be required to be planted in a mixture of native grasses and flowers.

We have a few more lawn areas (nothing big), but we convinced our administration to just let it grow. There were also see all kinds of different flowers and plants growing, and it's much more robust in the summer. When the mown lawn from the neighbors already was yellow, brown, and dead last summer, our part was still green and alive.

Many lawn grasses die back their roots when their tops are trimmed back. Big top, big root system.

@brunthal yay, glad to see what it looks like in spring (and not in almost winter when I was around...) 💚
