Small Stylus idea:
If you have Stylus added to your browser, you can create a new design for the Mastodon servers you use and use the content of this file:
https://github.com/ronilaukkarinen/mastodon-bird-ui/blob/main/layout-single-column.css

It will enable Bird UI using CSS only.
Bird UI was developed by ronilaukkarinen on GitHub and look pretty cool.
