I’m no good at CSS, don’t use it often enough, but never understood how tailwind would make this easier
Always felt like going back to inline styling to me
@kaiserkiwi I used my fair share of TW, mostly with @ apply (never cared too much about being "allowed" to use it). It worked, was quick to pick up and I never really questioned it much. But man, looking at that button example is so absolutely WTF and irritating that I have no words for it TBH 😳
@kaiserkiwi It never ceases to amaze me how so many relatively smart people will immediately go all-in on some new thing without the first clue about the agenda behind its creation.
Also, how so many of us do not do what this author did and say, "um, hey, this is actually not better than what we had because what we had was actually really good and did all that we needed it to do, so we don't need this. In fact, it's kind of bad."
Sean Connery had a line in The Rock that I think sums up software development's lust for new stuff every other month: "Everybody wants to go f--- the prom queen and nobody wants to stay and clean up."
@SynAck It's kind of an achievement to land with something like Tailwind were everyone is one the same boat that inline styles are bad. But them he says, it's utility classes! Not inline styles! You COULD change it globally.
Yes absolutely. Change "color-black hover:color-white" globally. Do it now. It will totally make sense!
But okay, it's a cult. Have a charismatic leader, a stupid idea that makes totally no sense and ask for money. You'll definitely find some dumb people. But what makes me sad/mad is how it shaped the industry in such a weird and extremely bad way…
We will have to deal with a fallout for years to come. Gladly more and more people see that Tailwind in it's current form and the mindset behind it is utter bullshit. But it's a long way until we reach the point where you don't get attacked if you say something against it.
