But this time around, the debate around private spending has been settled legally. The B.C. Supreme Court found in an 880 page ruling that more privately paid care would result in more waiting and worse care.

The decision was so comprehensive that after losing a second time at the B.C. Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Canada declined to entertain the case.

I mean, this isn't entirely surprising. Our current system is failing almost entirely because of doctor and other personnel shortages. Privatization won't undo our neglect from the last decade (and the strain that COVID put on the system). The only 'quick fix' is allowing more doctors to immigrate here; this probably means relaxing the procedure for transferring medical licenses between countries. The long term fix is allowing more seats for medical students so that we can support our growing population in the future.
