Are Spilling Formulae compatible with Spreadsheet Modelling Best Practice?

OK we've had spill-formulae for a while now. From what I have seen guidance around how and if we should use these spill-formulae in a financial modelling best practice context hasn't yet caught up.

For my part, I think these new functions are immensely powerful and will inevitably be used (they should be!) but this will have implications on structuring of workbook models, and it's annoying and problematic that formatting doesn't extend to the spilled range.
