@vantablack I think they are determined to try and find some way into the Fediverse, but Meta is struggling with its own problems - Facebook is laggy and broken compared to anywhere on Fedi, and group moderators as well as whatever safety staff they have are asleep at the wheel. I reluctantly joined FB because of the community radio station and a lot of my IRL friends from the 90s/00s being on there, and every part of FB that is not sponsored is overrun by all sorts of bad actors (particularly the marketplace where every other post is some scam, often making use of abandoned profiles)
