    @globalc Hmm, unsure, if I understand.
    IMHO it just needs some fumbling with CTRL+right Click on the settings to «list view» and to move the slider to see all the resolutions.

    @Jackobli Interesting.. can't check myself, the box with Mac OS X is at work.
    The description for these products seems to say that resolution selection is not possible.

    @globalc I did check such devices during my research on a similar topic[1] and there's not that much to such a device. Nifty idea.

    It should even work without but the kernel drivers are smart and disable the output immediately if nothing is connected, like that dummy plug.

    Nowadays I just use gamescope to achieve the same. Admitted, that is a very specific usecase.
