Guns

Your downvotes prove to me you have zero concern for school safety and every concern about false senses of security.

If you want to disarm all civilians, that's a fine, debatable position. However, please don't condescendingly lecture me about how you're protecting kids. Some school districts actually do arm their teachers and amazingly do without these issues.

No different from the poll tax.

A lot of software technology seems to be covered by the Second Amendment. Encryption is another technology that governments love to try to regulate.

10A,

True indeed, and that principle seems widely under-appreciated. It's worth noting, though, that GatGPT is trained to advise in the construction of firearms. So this case is more the 1A backing up the 2A,

VegaLyrae,

If it gets added to the ITAR list then it's constitutionally protected, right?

In theory, yes. In practice, it seems the government usually believes the Second Amendment doesn't exist.

Excellent question: to educate and hopefully change a few minds.

Ron DeSantis is really letting himself go.

10A,

What has this got to do with DeSantis?

Article seems a bit overly sensationalist. Like, yes, every gun law is an infringement, and yes, we should be generally concerned about government doing shady government stuff. This isn't even about some new infringement though, just about a law that's been on the books for 35 years and is now going to remain on the books.

Besides, isn't the point of 3D-printed firearms that they give everyone access to guns regardless of what the law says? If you need a gun and you're not allowed to have one, they were already illegal for you so making them double-illegal changes nothing. On the other hand if you're a hobbyist and want to play around with 3D-printed guns, just put a metal insert or something into them to comply.

Glad to have you aboard. Understanding the fediverse stuff isn't crucial, you can just use kbin like you used reddit.

Not a lot of gun content on here just yet. The recent reddit migration seems to consist mostly of liberals and leftists (myself included), so the pro-gun segment among them is rather small. It'll take us a while to build up our community here.

Striker7,

Welp, I'm sure we can live together in harmony here. I wont step on your 'leftist' toes if you leave my conservative toes alone, haha. Thanks for the warm welcome and looking forward to help grow the community on here. :)

Something something strange bedfellows, amirite? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not sure how much gun politics belongs in this magazine vs "guns only", but either way we should have some common ground.

The best thing that can happen regarding 2A is to realize this isn't a Red vs Blue issue: this affects all of us.

We can debate the other stuff somewhere else, but we are happy to have you with us.

10A, in Speech Transcript from Brandon Herrera's: "I Testified Against the ATF"

Tenth Amendment of the Constitution:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Elegant and extremely straight-forward. So how are agencies like the ATF legal? We have McCulloch v. Maryland (1819) to thank. In that case it was decided that implied powers are granted by the "necessary and proper" clause:

The Congress shall have Power... To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

Let us hope and pray that our Supreme Court will have an opportunity in the near future to apply Originalist doctrine and reverse the McCulloch v. Maryland decision.

One interesting thing to note from the hickok45 video, is the de-cocking lever, seems like there is a notch. The user needs to push the lever all the way.
