Whew - common sense prevails in one of the smallest markets in the #MLB - the Kansas City Royals asked the city if they would want a new stadium closer to center downtown. The answer was a cautious "yes." But just a few weeks ago, when the Royals unveiled their development proposal, it was for a site that was never discussed, sending some small local biz owners into a spiral, because they were watched their near-future plans implode.
So #KCMO's entertainment/service/minority sectors fought back

The vote to deny or award the Kansas City Royals a new stadium generated quite a large voter participation rate, which is rare in #KCMO - thanks in part to a groundswell of organic messaging by KC's creative community, tenants rights groups and public media outlets that moved people to polls on Tues, even though the Vote Yes factions outspent them, to the tune of $3M vs Vote No's $42k
