Dare you step into the Vortex? (I wouldn't.)
The always reliable YouTube reviewer SNESdrunk tackles Vortex, a late Super NES release by Argonaut Software. They helped Nintendo develop the cutting-edge 3D shooter StarFox, but without assistance from Shigeru Miyamoto and his team of developers, Vortex comes up short as a follow up.
There's plenty of variety- your ship can transform into a robot, a vehicle, or a "hard shell" that sponges up damage while delivering plenty of its own with a screen-clearing "electrobomb"- but iffy level design and inscrutable gameplay ultimately leave Vortex sucking, and not in the way you'd expect a vortex to suck.
